Fall Room Discounts Released: "Infamy, infamy, they've all got it infamy!"

Grrr -- room discounts were released today and once again, as with free dining, my travel dates have been neatly blacked out! Clearly Mickey has figured out who I am and when I am coming, and is determined that I shall not save a nickel!

For those lucky devils who are not traveling with me and therefore can get a discount ;), details are on the official parks website (sans blackout dates). Blackout dates listed here: http://mousetalestravel.com/2012/08/save-up-to-30-at-walt-disney-world-this-fall/.

[EDIT: My rant may have been premature and based on erroneous information -- what mousetalestravel was indicating were blackout dates are actually the dates with lower percentage discounts -- but the discount offer is real. See @dcibrando's post, below.]

What dates were you looking at?

According to the info. that's going up on various travel websites, the offer's fine print is: Must be booked by September 29th for arrival dates: 9/30 – 10/6/2012, 10/14 – 10/20/2012, 10/28 – 11/3/2012, 11/11 – 11/17/2012, 11/24 – 12/1/2012, 12/10 – 12/22/2012.

[EDITED TO REMOVE SUPERFLUOUS QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION. Additional information (see posts below) indicates that the reported "blackout dates" may not be blacked out at all -- just subject to lower discount percentages]

That is strange I was prepared for you to tell me that you planned your stay incorporating Columbus Day weekend which is prime time. I'm sorry Mickey is not cooperating. It seems that October in general is becoming a very popular time at WDW. I go anually for 4-5 days surronding my birhtday and notice that crownds have been increasing.
I am still waiting fort Disney to release the Fall Passholder deals....Hard to plan until they are out but I can usually guesstimate the approx discounts. They only have them up for now through 9/29 as well.

Hmmm... the offer has disappeared from the WDW official website. It was there 5 minutes ago and the information is on a ton of other sites. I'm going to assume that they are "tweaking" the offer just to allow me to take advantage of it, and will be reposting it shortly to include my travel dates. Wishing on a star, people!...

Question, I'm currently slated to arrive on 12/2. If I add an extra day and come in on 12/1 will the discount be applied to my entire trip or just the 12/1 date?

We arrive 10/13 for 5 nights, placing us outside of both the free dining and room discount offers. I considered trying to shift our dates, but we've already booked roundtrip airfare, and would be charged $100 per person (for four of us) if we tried to change our flights now.

For the veterans: does anybody know if "arrival dates" means "arrival at WDW" or "arrival at a particular resort"? Could we snag the discount for the overlapping dates by resort-hopping? In other words, if we stayed at, say POFQ the first night (10/13, which has no discount), and then checked into POR for the second night (10/14, which is when the discount window opens again), would we get the discount for the remainder of our stay at POR? Or would we have to go somewhere off-site for the first night instead?

I think (but I am not 100% sure) that you can make 2 reservations. One for the night of the 13th and then another for the remaining nights to get free dining. I BELIEVE that to be true, but again, I am not 100% sure. Never hurts to ask!!

You should be able to make 2 reservations and get the free dining, call Disney they will tell you right off the options..

The offer I was mainly talking about is a room only offer, not free dining (although we're blacked out from that, too). Free dining blackouts are even more extensive than what I'd seen reported for the room only offer, and include the period between October 4th and 19th, so as far as the free dining goes, there's no overlap with our 10/13-10/18 stay at all. Thanks anyway! :)

Called this morning and got the discount applied. Had to upgrade from standard to garden view at POR to get the deal but still getting almost $200 back! Makes missing free dining by 2 day a little less painful.
