Completely forgot about those you listed second. Shows how much attention I pay there. ALIENS.
I am right there with you. I have been so turned off by the History Channel I did not realize that American Pickers and Pawn stars were their shows. About the only time I watch them is when I am at the in-laws as my father in lay seems to watch nothing but Fox news and the History channel.

The shows on TLC are all fake, its manufactured drama, look up Breaking Amish.

As for the History channel shows, while I would love to believe all kinds of people bring in those fasinating items into Rick's pawn shop, part of me feels most of those people are actors bringing in props. Its just too slick a production. Same with American Pickers. I read somewhere those 2 guys were upset when they found out the most popular person on that show was the lady with all the tattoos and History wanted her featured in the show more.

I still believe Deadliest Catch is 100% real, you can't load crab. I think they manufacture drama, but that show would be hard to script fishing wise.

Jimmy Thick- But you never know I guess.

I would say that Deadliest Catch it my guiltiest TV pleasure. It is the same freaking thing on every show. The pots are either empty or full, a deckhand is going to do something stupid making the captain snap and someone is going to get hurt. Despite all of that, I watch it every freaking time it is on. Like you I do not doubt that the crew plays it up for the camera and there is a certain amount of drama made in the editing room, but I think it is as close to reality as we will ever see on TV.

Yes. Staging a show like that would only hurt the ships and their crew.
