Extra Magic Hours During Christmas

Ok,

I looked at the WDW calendar for Christmas week. It shows that the Magic Kingdom has hours of 8A-12A every day AND extra magic hours.

What gives? If its open from 8A-12A how are they doing extra magic hours? Do they open even earlier or close even later? Or are extra magic hour guests the only ones allowed to ride the extra magic hour rides between, say 10:30P and 12A.

How does it all work?

I guess I have the same question for each of the parks.

We are going from Dec. 22-Jan. 1 and DW and I are going round and round about where to spend which day and eat in which restaurant. She's all excited and I'm excited. But she is a hopeless planner and wants to know what we are doing. Its actually quite funny. I told her I'd ask you all because you all know everything and give awesome advice. She agreed, so we'll wait to hear from you before we book things.

In that case, the EMH would be from 7a-8a for morning EMH, and 12a-3a for evening EMH. That happened to be the schedule just before we were arriving in late April. The amazing thing is... they can get the parks ready in about 4 hours.

Whatever hours are posted on the website are the "standard" operating hours for that day. Any EMH are beyond that, even extending, in the case of MK, to 3am.

Morning Extra Magic Hours
Magic Kingdom® Park - December 7, 14, 21, 24-31
Evening Extra Magic Hours
Magic Kingdom® Park - December 3, 10, 17, 25, 30

This would mean that Morning EMH are 7am - 8am (Dec. 24 - 31) and Evening EMH are 12am - 3am (Dec. 25 & 30) during Christmas week.

It's hard to believe, but they do go that late! It blew my mind when I was planning our vacation for New Years '05-'06. On New Years Eve, MGM was open until 4a.m.!!

Although somehow I don't have the energy to stay up much past midnight these days, especially when I leave for the park at about 6:00a.m.!
