Extra Day: Just Pool/DS or no?

We have a pool/DS day built into our trip... but we also only have one day at each park planned right now. Would you keep it that way? Or would you add an extra park day to your ticket in case you decided you want the extra time at your favorite park?

My son is only 4, so I can kinda see us wanting extra time at MK. But our "extra" day is a Friday... and MK will likely be packed anyway.

I would hit MK very early or very late that day, to get some extra time there and wrap up anything you didn’t see or do. Still leaves half a day free.

For a short trip, I’d probably skip DS entirely and spend that time in a park instead, unless there’s something you really want to do or buy there.

Not an Epcot thread, but I want to echo what somebody said on another of your posts— be sure to try the Agent P World Showcase Adventures! I promise that your son will LOVE them. You do it on your phone and as you solve the simple clues, things come to life. They take about 20-30 minutes apiece, and they’re worth it. They were my son’s favorite thing at age 4, and he still loves them now.

I would add a MK day and skip DS. It is mostly stores, restaurants and shops, not a lot to keep a young kid interested. (Although the Lego store is great) Adding a day or adding more park time depends on your child and how he holds up in the buzy park days to make it worth the cost. When we went with our young DS, he wanted to do as much in the parks as he could, and he could handle long days well. He tolerated the lines but also back then the parks were not as crowded as they are today. He enjoyed the pools so we built in a break for pool time into the day. With our DS his grumpy time began when he got hungry, so we knew we had to stop right away to get him something quick. If you plan on revisiting WDW again soon then you could delay another day for another trip. If you know you wont be back for a long time then it might be worth it doing more now.

Makes sense. Thank you! I doubt I'll be able to go back anytime soon... so maybe it would be worth it to have that extra day at MK, at least in the morning. Hmm...

We don't have children, so don't have any firsthand advice, but I can't even count how many times we have seen parents dragging unhappy children around the parks while the kids are just asking to go back to the pool.

After you get past the first 4-5 days the cost of a ticket does not go up that much. We always buy tickets for the length of our stay just in case the weather is bad enough to knock us out of a park visit day. We too normally have a resort day built in our trips, and a couple times we've used at least part of our time at a park to do something we couldn't do otherwise. Other times, we've just enjoyed the resort all day. And don't be surprised if your son just wants to go to the pool. Happens to all of us...haha

Honestly the only reason I was thinking of going to DS was to go to lunch at T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe. Although... now I might be able to work that in on our AK day since we're doing dinner at Tusker House instead of breakfast. Hmm...

If it were me, I would do a pool day and take boat to Fort Wilderness for some exploring, maybe the the sing along with Chip and Dale. You’re staying at CR correct? The boat ride would be fun and there’s lots to do at FW that a kiddo would enjoy.

We're doing dinner at O'hana that night. Other than that, it's wide open.
