Of course it looks good but it looks too good. They should have tried to make it look more worn to fit the theme of an old mansion.
I think it looks more that way because it's wet, everything shimmers more when wet just like when you wash a car. Even the wall behind it which isn't new looks better because it's wet.

The worn pavement looked fine... Yes a fresh coat of whatever-they-did looks shiny and new... I never recall seeing it look that contrasty though...even after the big refurbishment that gave us better sound, the staircase hall scene and a completely repainted exterior.... I think that was when they added the big Fastpass Gates too. And I never remember the pavement being so Black and White.... Anyone have pictures when it looked like this before?

The pavement wasn’t replaced then. The previous pavement was decades old.

When we rode it a few weeks ago, the stretching room effect wasn't working.
If you mean the reveal of the ceiling, I have my doubts about "not working". It could be intentional. WDW has been removing, in their view, "problematic" elements for the last several years. The hanging corpse is still at DL. Not so WDW which I visited just prior to my recent DL trip, at least not now.

There are two stretching rooms. If my memory serves correctly the room to the right of the fireplace in the entry has the brightly illuminated hanging corpse while the lighting in the room to the left is so dim that it is easy to think the corpse has been removed.

The lighting in that room has been bad for nearly a year. My most recent visit was less than a month ago and I experienced both stretching rooms at least twice during my stay.

It is still there at WDW. It has never been removed.

The room we got the 'stretch' effect wasn't working and it was too dim to see the ceiling projection. The rest of the ride seemed to be working, but the illusion of the 'preshow' was gone.

I really do wish they would do away with the "Silly Graveyard" queue... It completely spoils the beautifully paced attraction itself... That journey from darkness and dread to light and humor... But when you start with a silly queue... it just doesn't work. DIsneyland Paris has a Boot Hill cemetery walk-through at the exit....which seems like a better way to do it....though I realize WDW doesn't have the space to make that happen....in which case, it is just not necessary.

A crane in the background of my picture of the Haunted Mansion that I've taken 56 other times in my life??? MAGIC AND VACATION RUINED!!!!1!!!

Hopefully this is just some simple repairs.
Just use your imagination and see that background as a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral. There see, now your vacation is enhanced.
