I'm meeting a friend there and she will be staying deluxe and I won't for this trip. Can I be added to her room to get the extra hours without causing any problems ?
TIA:)

There will be an additional charge for the adult (you) staying in her room, so if she doesn't care (or however you work that out)...

Two adults can stay in a room at the base rate, so if she's staying alone there would be no extra charge. Are you staying elsewhere on site? If not, it wouldn't be a problem, but if you are, you could have an issue with being on two reservations and how that is interpreted by your magic band or key card.

Yes I'll be at another resort
You're going to need someone to sort that out for you so that your band or key card reads the right resort as needed. That might be easy. It might not be easy. It probably depends on finding the right person to ask for assistance. I would probably see if someone at the front desk at your friend's hotel can help you, but that requires you actually going over there. It might be more of a hassle than it's worth. You could also try stopping by guest services at the park on the evening in question. Just have a back up plan so that you aren't disappointed if it doesn't work out.

An alternative route would be for your friend to add a dummy/unrelated person onto her reservation as the extra guest, then get a key card for that person from the front desk to give to you. You would then use that key card for the evening scanners rather than your own card or Band.

However, one snag might be if the EMH scanners are also looking for an active park ticket on that person's account. I'm not sure if that's something they look for.

Thanks, No problem going there or guest service , worst case I can just watch her go on the rides and look sad while I wait.

I have a somewhat related question. How do they verify non-Disney resort eligibility for extended evening magic hours? Thinking about booking at Shades of Green next trip.

Shades of Green is included in the evening magic hours. I would imagine that your room key would show that you are staying there. I don't remember from the last time we stayed there. It's been a few years.

I would just add yourself to your friends room. If the magic band gets confused then the front desk CMs can give you a key to the world card to open your room door.

It's been a few years but we had cards with our check in and check out dates on them for EMH to show. They were nice because the kids could use them to get on the bus without us if need be

Just have her add you to the room. We have multiple reservations with no issues for example next trip my wife and I will be at yacht club my kids at boardwalk but I am on both reservations and will be on two rooms at the same time

Can you do this if you already have a max for the reservation? For example, if you have 4 in a room, and want to add a 5th?

Most rooms accommodate five? Maybe not a king bed room but most of the rooms accommodate five our family has never had an issue

Yes, but the room I was looking at only had a max occupancy of 4. It hadn't happened to us before, but there are a number of DVCs that are limited to 4.

The Key to the World cards mainly went away with Magic Bands, but are still an option. Not sure if they print you name and dates on them as they are now RFID (like magicbands).

Don't think the buses have asked for proof of staying at a resort in over 20 years. I've never been asked, just got on the bus.

I think the poster you're replying to was referring to Shades of Green, which likely does check guest status.
