Express passes

Is that what they're called? I'm talking about their version of the fastpass.

Anyway, how do they work? Is it the same as fastpasses? I'm assuming not because in the Unoffical Guide to WDW it said to get an express pass "for lunchtime" to Shrek. Does that mean you get to choose what time you want to go back?

I haven't been to Universal since they started that system.

Sorry if this has already been asked!

IIRC, they have computer terminals that give you a selection of times that you could come back at. You then print the ticket by selecting a time.

The whole system works the same, except the return times aren't posted on signs as they are at WDW. You have to go to a machine to find the return time. If you're visiting at a busy time and there's a line at the machines, ask an employee when the return time is. I've seen many times when people have waited 15 minutes to get a Shrek 4-D Express pass, only to find out there aren't any left.

Universal Express is free. Guests staying at one of the 3 Universal Resorts can show their room key to get into the Express line at any time.

There is also Express Plus. You can purchase an Express Plus book which has one pass for each attraction using the Express system. You can use these passes at anytime as well.

I think Express Plus is $15 and up depending on time of year or week. A friend of mine was going to buy them, but then figured for a family of 4 for two days, it would be cheaper to stay onsite instead of off site.
