Express Checkout at WDW Resorts

Express Checkout at the WDW resorts has changed. On the morning of your checkout day, they no longer hang a letter with your room charges on your door. They now only send your final room charges to your email address in a PDF file If you want a copy at your resort, you have to go to the front desk or check your email account with your smart phone.

The PDF I received showing charges for my recent trip was a mess. As usual, WDW continues to have serious problems with any computer based communications. When I rang them up and complained, they advised me that this new system was still in the testing stages. They were able to correct the bill over the phone but they did not apologize for their serious math errors (double charged me for a room I had booked and paid for back in December, 2011).

I was a Disney beta test victim.

In other words, nothing about this is really "express."

I've often received statements that were not incorrect, but were in fact very difficult to follow. When they printed it, the formatting was all off, making it very confusing to read.

I will be very pleased not to have the letter of shame hanging on my door on my last day :animwink:

It's great when you first arrive at your resort and you are walking and passing all of the letters of shame hanging on the doors, thinking or saying "Aww, this poor sucker is going home today." Then you have a quick laugh, knowing your trip is still ahead of you. I'll miss that feeling. But in the end we all became someone elses "poor sucker". It's the Circle of Life.

I get the same feeling when seeing folks headed to the Magical Express bus with their luggage to catch their return flight home and I am just getting to the resort to start my vacation.

I like the paperless billing idea. I do that with almost all of my regular household bills. But I am curious, were you actually charged twice for some things or was it just a formatting issue on the bill and the charge was only showing on the bill twice but not actually charged?

Letter of Whit!

I don't think of it as " the letter of shame ",but as " the letter of fame ".I've many friends back home who are envious that we can do the most magical place on earth for vacation. But on the serious side,I like to check my totals before heading back to UK. So I for one will be asking for a print out of my spending spree.:lookaroun

I guess the feeling is that most people now have smart phones that will allow them to see their bill right away. However, if you don't have one then you can obviously go to the desk and ask for a printout if they aren't giving them out anymore. Like I said, a couple of weeks ago I was given both, but that could have already changed.

One thing I enjoy about my vacation is leaving my mobiles at home.

This has been going on for a couple of months. Since December at least. I can understand it, but preferred getting a hard copy automatically. That way I could usually check the bill first thing and make sure things are correct. Now I look them up on my ipad the last day, but it's still a little more inconvenient.

probably helps the resorts for the DME crush... but I think it's a bad customer service issue.

Then again, I almost always chose to checkout manually because I don't want any BS about the room or charges.

I checked out on Sunday 2/5/12 from Caribbean Beach and received my boarding pass (Southwest Flight) along with my itemized bill with my room charges. Everything was correct and it was easy to read and arrived by 8am. I didn't request any of this but I wanted it and figured I would get a hard copy of my bill. I did have my credit card on file for the express checkout. They had my email address on file and I did not receive a PDF of my bill.

I"ve gotten to the point now that I don't even worry about what the bill states. I'll wait until I get home and then settle up with WDW.

The PDF file was in perfect order. All the columns and rows were correct and the labels (Fulfillment date, Description, Property, Room. Charged By, Charges, Payments and Balance) were all in order. However, I paid in full for my room back in December of 2011 and they added in that payment as a new charge in addition to charges for meals and other items we had charged back to the room. Had I not checked with the front desk, I would have ended up paying double for the room.

When I spoke with the front desk they at first did not realize (or acknowledge) that the room had been paid in full back in December, 2011. Only after I directed the person to whom I spoke to look back in my billing file did they find that the room was prepaid. The billing cycle had ended and the money had already been paid to my credit card from my bank account.

I had a similar experience during my last WDW trip with double charges. During that trip they gave me four “super” fastpasses that I could use on any attraction in any of the parks as part of their guest recovery.
