Explain the appeal of Test Track

I am on the fence on TT. I was a HUGE WoM fan, but it simply wasn't bringing guests in like TT does. The loop is great. While it does not fit the future theme of Epcot, neither do many of the attractions necessarily. Instead, I think the post-show is the place that should look to the future. That Dreamchasers thing is a joke, IMHO. It looks awesome from the outside, but it is a huge missed opportunity. It is nothing but a Giant GM ad. I got incredibly bored on it. I would like to see this become a re-creation in animation of WoM, called "Fun to be Free." Like Exxon in UoE, GM could be worked into this very easily to survive their sponsorship, and I think this would bridge the gap between old FW and new FW very well. The other thing I would like to see is a better presentation of some of the tests in the queue. While they are great, it is a bit of a hodgepodge.

I really don't like TT but I do ride it.... it's weird but I do. I don't hate it but I think there a lot that can be done to it...I'm not sure what its missing but there is something either way, I still hit it at Epcot and was even upset during one trip when it was closed down. Go figure

OK...my 2 cents worth. I liked World of Motion but, face it folks, its gone. So Test Track doesn't have singing chipmunks or talking robots, it tells its story in its own unique way. And it certainly is unique, there's nothing like it anywhere. Although we may be offended to hear it suggested, to some people World of Motion was probably too much like Horizons or Space Ship Earth. Sorry. There needs to be room for both, to appeal to a wider audience. Test Track is high tech, clever, amazing, and although certainly not the most thrilling ride around, a lot of fun. I love the waiting area, with all the noises and activity going on. Of course the tests that the cars go through don't seem real. Its just a fun representation of what happens in the real world. Long live Test Track.

I don't really get it either. I went 4 trips without being able to ride because of crazy lines. Last trip, I finally got on and was expecting somehting great, and I didn't get it. Don;t get me wrong, its a good ride, I was jsut expecting something spectacular

How about Transportation.

That is what WoM was. THAT was about transportation. The history and varieties, etc.... WoM was the perfect ride themed around the idea of transportation.

TT is a wonderful ride... but it is not about transportation, it's about a GM test track.

trust me, I am not one of those die-hard "save all the classic disney attractions and don't ever change anything in the parks ever" type of people... however, I can't imagine an attraction other than WoM doing as good a job representing the idea of "Transportation."

There were singing chipmunks in World of Motion? :lookaroun

There! Gniko21 and Grizz have hit it!!

That's what TT needs!! Singing Chipmunks!
It's so obvious I can't believe the Imagineers didn't think of it already.
Now I can rest easy knowing that the problem is not with me, but rather it lies in the paucity of melodic rodents represented in the attraction!

Thank You both!

TT is fast, and is all about cars...Enough to satisfy many. Having been to car factories (GM) and the like, I can say it is EXTREMELY realistic, TT even smells like the factories. It is very accurate, and lives up to Epcot's promise to Educate as well as inform. I'm not saying you're gonna walk off saying "that's facinating!" All I'm saying is that the Information is there if you want it, and the thrill is there too. M:S is also an example of this. Soarin' would be another.

I think it's fun. Don't know why, it just is. Although I did get stuck on the 60 MPH burm once and it kinda freaked me out, I was ready to bail and it took me a couple trips to want to do it again. But once I tried again, it was fun. (Although it took a bit of "sampling" around the countries to get the desire to ride it again)

Test-Track is a great ride for two reasons:

1.) If you like it, it's worth the wait or return with fastpass.

2.) If you don't like it, you can skip it while the rest of the people in EPCOT wait in line for it.

Maybe Disney felt they needed to bring in a ride that was a tad more exciting than WoM. Epcot has it's share of slow moving ride through text books. By bringing in a ride that added a "touch" of thrill, they attempted to boost the appeal of Epcot as a ride park and not just the "educational" park. Same could be said for M:S. That's a trip to Mars and back. I don't recall learning much about space travel on that ride. My hunch is that Disney wanted to boost the Epcot appeal factor by incorporating excitement and eliminating the dryness. Hey, I love SSE for the relaxing aspect. But I also like the fact that TT has a little edge to it, even if it is based mostly on GM. Again, sponsorships have their drawbacks... :D
