Experience Using Touring Plans Room Request

This is my first trip using my Touring Plans subscription and I'm really impressed with all of the incredible work that's put into the website. I'm going to use their Room Request option for my stay at AoA. I was wondering if anyone has used this feature and if they were able to get the room on or around the location they requested. Additionally, should I complete an on-line check in so I can have my room number texted to me or should I check in at the front desk? I wasn't sure if either method affected how this feature might work.

Warning, you will probably start seeing a few here start commenting that "you can't do that".

As for me, I can tell you that yes, it works:) I have done it several times for both Value and DVC split stays (some DVC people are the ones that are adamant about Disney saying not to fax requests.) When I have checked in, the front desk person at SSR has commented, "we received your fax and will be able to put you in your requested building and floor; however, since your room is not quit ready (I was checking in at 8:30 am coming over from Pop) I can't give you your room number yet."

In fact, my Touring Plan fax requests for Pop and Saratoga Springs should go out today or tomorrow:)

Thanks! Yeah, I know from experience that room requests are merely requests and that it doesn't always work out the way you would like based on time/availability (i.e. every room request I've ever made with Disney). I was just curious to see if anyone else has used this feature and how it worked out for them. I'm staying in a standard room in AoA which is a bit far from the shuttles and lobby so I'm hoping to avoid getting a room on the furthest end of the resort that would require the most walking. I'm glad you've had success though!

It does work, however if you are staying at a Deluxe resort it will prevent you from being upgraded. They try and honor all request first then upgrade who is left over. So I never use it as I'm always holding out for an upgrade with thankfully has happened on my past three visits.

Used the Touring Plans fax request option for the first time last October for staying at the Poly (DVC). We got what we wanted. We did on-line check in. Everything worked great.Going again this October staying at BLT and will be using the Touring Plans fax request again.
