Trip Report Expedition Pig Search, Whirlwind Sister Trip - Jan '17

Hey friends! We just got back from our sister trip on Sunday. I just now got my pictures on the computer, so it might take a few days to get them sorted out.

Figured I'd start the report while I am sitting here watching Hunted on CBS. Is anyone else watching it? A good friend of mine is one of the fugitives, and it's so surreal to see him on TV. But also the intense music they use on this show is making me anxious, so I need to do something while I watch. :joyfull:

Looking forward to sharing about all the fun we had!

I totally LOVE Princess and and the Frog! I didn't see it when it first came out but then I started to hear more about it. Its soundtrack is by far my favorite of the newer Disney movies. I refused to watch Wreck It Ralph for some reason until it came on TV and nothing else was on. Now I'm obsessed with it :)

So where were we? We finished up at Tony's and headed out of the park. Goodbye MK! See you real soon :inlove:

I let sister tell me where she preferred to go for the remainder of the evening, and she chose Animal Kingdom. What for? Everest, of course!

The wait was something like 40 minutes, so I took a lot of pictures. Also I wish they'd take out those DANG bells. Once one person rings one, every person has to do it. It gets old o_O

We finally got on the ride! The sunset was BEAUTIFUL! I love a good Florida sunset. This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip:

Reminds me of one @21stamps posted in her report of her sweet son!

After that ride, we went back around and I told her about the single rider line. She thought that sounded great. Shorter line? DUH...no downside. So we went on two rides as single riders. On the second one I let her go first and when I was standing there waiting to be called the ladies behind me were literally pressing their bodies ON ME. Apparently their family went in the regular line and they were trying to holler at them. Why they needed to touch me to do that, I don't know. I gave them many looks and maybe even pushed back a bit. When the CM finally called me, he gave me a "sheesh, those ladies....weirdos" look. haha!

On that same ride, sister was sat next to a non-English-speaking gentleman who recorded the whole ride on his phone...with the video light on. It was interesting. She was completely fascinated by all the people speaking different languages!

Ok so the next time we tried single rider, they had the line closed to we went back to the regular standby. I think the next time was only about 15 minutes, and it was pretty close to park closing. I told sister I thought I could only handle one more ride. It's my old lady body...I just can't.

Sister thought she was so funny looking "bored" haha. Silly girl. I told her she should have let me know and I could have done it too!

After that ride, we stopped for sister to get...wanna guess? Another pretzel. :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: I can't. I would have been so sick of pretzels. After she ate her pretzel, we headed to the front of the park to shop a bit. I noticed the Tree of Life Awakening happened and we watched a little. Sister thought it was lame, but I liked it!

I'm excited to watch that with my husband in April!

We also checked out some pins while we were there. We talked to a couple of cast members for a good bit since the stores were pretty dead. It was a nice evening! I had the last night sads, but I was also excited to get some rest...

When we got to the bus stop, there was a bus for Yacht and Beach club, so hopped on that one. It was a few minutes before we left because it was a shift change, but we still left before a Boardwalk bus arrived. The driver asked everyone where they were going and I told her we'd just get off at the first stop and walk to the Boardwalk. She offered to drive us over there, but I was fine walking. It was a beautiful night! Plus I thought sister would like seeing that side of the resort area. I was right. We got off at the Yacht club and she thought it was really pretty.

We strolled over to The Boardwalk and shopped in the big store a big. I grabbed a beer on the way up to the room and read on the balcony while sister took a bath.

Our room was a standard view, but it was wonderful! I loved it out there. You can see Spaceship Earth off in the distance, and I could see the fireworks from Illuminations.

After sister was ready for bed, I showered and packed my bag up. We had an early morning! Our flight was at 8:30, so I think we were scheduled to leave the resort at 5:30. I set our alarms for 5, and we hit our pillows. No trouble sleeping this night!

We got up and going on time and out the door a little before I planned. We were downstairs by 20 after and said our goodbyes.

Goodbye, creepy chairs.

We made it on the Tragical Express and to the airport with no issues. Sister was a little sad that the store was closed. I think she wanted to get some souvenirs with the rest of her money. Security was really quick since it was so early, and soon we were back on the fonorail.

And that's the last picture. Gosh so sad!! We were exhausted and honestly glad to be getting home, but we were still sad to be leaving the most magical place on earth!

I don't really have any final thoughts...I spelled it all out as I went. I guess I could just say that of the two table service meals we did, 50's Prime Time was DEFINITELY the winner. Also the After Hours event was fantastic. Highly recommend that event, and I'm hoping they extend it so my husband and I can do that in April.

Speaking of April, y'all want me to do a little mini trip-report for my April trip? Oh you do? Ok great!

I'm going to Tampa for work in April. I'm leaving April 10 and working through the 12th. I'm planning to rent a car in Tampa then drive it to Orlando Wednesday evening to turn it in. My husband (R) will meet me down there. We're going to stay at Caribbean Beach (for now...y'all know I like to change things).

We are tentatively planning to eat at Raglan Road on Wednesday night. It will depend on what I have to do that day for work! Hopefully it'll work out.

Thursday (13th): MK! Dinner at Skipper Canteen that evening.
Friday (14th): Epcot! Dinner at Biergarten (R's fav...I love it too.)
Saturday (15th): Animal Kingdom. We are SO excited to see Rivers of Light! Eating at BOMA then back to AK for RoL.

Saturday is a maybe...it'll depend on whether we can get a flight Sunday morning, which is Easter. Right now they're still a bit high for me. I'm hoping we can do it because just two days in the world will sooooo not feel like a sufficient amount of time. Just cross fingers we can get a good flight!

Ok that's it for now! So excited to have a trip to look forward to again!

Thanks so much for reading! We had such a great time. I'm already thinking about when I'll taking her again. I'm thinking either to celebrate her 16th birthday or after high school graduation. We'll see! Thanks also for the comment on the photos! That's how I make my living (not at Disney, of course, but back home), so it's nice to know I'm doing a good job :)

First, I'm so sorry about the passing of your dad:(

Just binge-read your entire TR - it was great! That was such a nice gift for your sister. Your photos are so beautiful!! And I'm with you - Festival of the Lion King is my absolute favorite show on property. I get chills and tears every time, I swear! Thank goodness about your bag:jawdrop: I left my purse in a shopping cart once, with my cell phone in it and probably $100 in cash since we were going away for the weekend. Thankfully the person who found it saw my cell phone in my purse and scrolled through (I didn't lock my phone at that time) and saw "dad" in my contacts and he called him to tell him he found my purse. They met up and he gave my purse to my dad. My dad offered to give him some money as a reward, but he refused. When I got my purse back I went through it and not one single thing was missing. But the feeling of not knowing where it was and if you'd ever see your things again is just a terrible feeling!

I have a 14 year old daughter and she is ALWAYS hungry!! I swear I don't know where she puts it, but I hear I'm hungry every hour:joyfull:

Thanks for taking us along on your trip. Can't wait to read about your April adventures!
