Specific dates are a bit premature at the moment. A lot can happen between now and 2006! Particularly when you are building a 199ft tall mountain range! :)

We all know thats true.

April '97 trip: "Test Track, openning Spring of 97"

Sept. 97 trip: "Test Track, openning Spring of 97"

Sept. 98 trip: "Test Track, testing in progess"

Let's just hope E:E will be sometime bwfore 2010.

I agree with Steve on this one. Who really cares at this point about an EXACT opening date. Saying "2006", or "early to mid-2006" would be the most specific and REALISTIC announcements.

Picking a date that's over 2 years away is insanity. Test Track opened way late because of problems, and Mission: Space opened to guests early. So WHO KNOWS?

Unfortunately, the answer is still "nobody."

I too was thinking and was impressed with the realtively rapid rate the construction project has been moving along. It takes alot of time to properly prepare several acres of land to hold a sprawling mountain range ;).

Ah. We wouldn't want too many anniversary dates now, would we?

The more reasonable opening date to look at...is the date they will open the section...it has been mentioned that the section surrounding E:E will open before the attraction itself...looking at the landscape work and the rapid construction I'd say it will be soon....

Opening date for E:E is unimportant at this point...I just want them to get it right the first time around...

From onstage, construction appears to be running slowly because most of it is taking place behind a huge grey wall. A lot of progress has meen made even since the last update! Pretty soon you will see big changes.

As for the opening date, 22 April would simply be an educated guess. Opening dates and events at Animal Kingdom tend to revolve around 4-22, being Earth Day. The park opened on earth day of 1998, with Asia opening exactly one year later. Screamscape is assuming that anything official about Everest will follow the trend. Obviously it's much too early to know if this is true.

I know Animal Kingdom likes to open their attractions on Earth Day, but do they really have to? I mean, if E:E is ready in January '06(might be), I wouldn't wait four months to open a ride. In my opinion, Disney takes a little too long building their attractions, or saying when they are going to open. I wouldn't expect an "official" announcement for the opening for another year.

From the looks of construction...it doesn't look like it gonna open until 2016.

Wow I was really thinking that it was going along very fast seems that they are getting alot of work done to me

If it was ready in Jan. then they would run soft openings like they did with MS

Let's see, if Everest officially opens April 22nd, we need to leave two months for "official" soft openings, that would start in February. Then we have to leave two months for "unofficial" soft openings, that puts guests on it in December of 2005. j/k  ;)

Really though, throwing around dates this early in the game is really all a guessing game. I wouldn't discredit the idea of having an official grand opening around Earth Day though (heck, the park opened on that day, Everest was announced on that day...everything at AK is practically centered around that day).

As for the construction pace, I've read a lot about how slow Disney is in building their rides and that they take their good ole' time, but then I look at how much has been done at Everest already since its announcement. I see that in 4 months the entire housing structure for Soarin' at Epcot is nearing completion. In that same time frame, I've seen residential street at MGM get demolished and in its place the major structures for the new stunt show already up. Everytime I've went to see how things were doing at these sites...I see people working non-stop at each of them. I don't really know how much faster they could go. In terms of Everest, its a very complex structure that requires a lot of site preparation before the mountain can take shape. Its not just a coaster inside a building.
