I wouldn't even compare these two. Expedition Everest is a more conventional coaster, and it's fun, but Guardians is a very different ride. I love both, but like Guardians more.
I agree that Guardians is a better physical ride, but boy is EE themed well! For the sole reason I have to go with EE, it’s just visually stunning!

And for the exact same reason, I’d vote BTMRR over Guardians as my favorite roller coaster ride. The ride itself might not be as good, but BTMRR is just amazing to me.

I have to go with Guardians as a complete package attraction. Everest is one of the top-tier E tickets, but I’ve always found the ride to be a bit short. The mountain is one of the greatest structures Disney has ever built, but only two cool things happen inside the mountain, one of which has been broken for years. To me, most of the ride feels like you’re just going through helixes at the base of the mountain, even during the fast part after the main drop. The ride would earn more points for me if it had more interaction with the mountain outside of the very top backwards segment, indoor section, and yeti at the end. If you look at something like Big Thunder, you’re inside and outside the mountain dozens of times throughout the layout, making it feel more interactive. I love Everest and consider it a true masterpiece, but Guardians has always felt like a much more complete experience with the preshows, queue effects, characters/dialogue, length, thrill, and music.

Have you ridden BTMR at DL? They are the same ride, but the DL version has lots of FX in the climax (final hill in the mountain) that either don't work, or don't exist here. Honestly, A fairer comparison would be Expedition Everest and Matterhorn Bobsleds. In that event I'd go for Matterhorn. Even though the thing was built in 1959, it has updated FX that are pretty cool and it's just damn fun! LOL!

I have! Grizzly River Run and the Matterhorn are the main reasons I want to go back. I don’t really have a strong preference on the BTMRR effects at Disneyland, and they weren’t that memorable for me, so I find both to be about equal in that regard.

I feel like this is a random question, lol, like “Which is a better food - cheese or soup?” I mean - both cheese and soup are pretty awesome, but I like them in different ways at different times. These are fairly dissimilar rides in terms of the time period they were built, vibe, theme, surrounding context, etc. I think to compare rides in terms of which is better, you need two rides that were striving to be the same thing in some way.

This is a tough choice because both are amazingly fun rides, I think Guardians is probably the better ride but Everest is a more interesting ride… if you said I could only ride one for the rest of my life I’d choose Everest though simply because it’s a more interesting ride to me, for that reason I chose EE in the poll.

I feel similar about Velocicoaster and Hagrids, Velocicoaster is my favorite coaster anywhere, it’s just incredibly fun and exillerating, but if I had to choose to only ride one for the rest of my life I’d pick Hagrids because it’s more interesting.

Both are better than the other in different ways, this is like asking to pick a favorite kid.

Those BTMR FX make all the difference for me. LOL! Grizzly River Run is a "standard" river rapids ride, but they did it good at DCA. Love that ride.

I like EE, it's a fun outdoor roller coaster with great theming (I never saw the Yeti move so I don't give a care that it's broken), but man... GotG:CR is just smooth as butter and with the right song is a blast to ride. When I was there last month, the day I flew in the first thing I did in the parks that afternoon was CR and I finally got the song I wanted: One Way or Another! It was an excellent way to start a Disney vacation and confirmed my opinion that it's the best song for the ride. (IMO, obv... though if you don't agree, you are wrong! :p) The only one I haven't gotten yet is Disco Inferno.

Everest is a great ride to guests, who don't even ride it.
I agree, the photo opportunity from the bridge over ASIA, with E.E backdrop is stunning, that attraction was so well thought out, for me its one of Disney's best ever , even when your not riding it, you can see the final drop as you walk round , and hear the sounds echo through the mountain, simply brilliant Imagineering.
