Expedition Everest: Help!

A tip I came up with for my daughter... watch a ride video on YouTube and count the time of whatever part you're worried about. When you get to that point on the ride start counting (outloud or in your head). It gives you something to focus on instead of your apprehension and lets you know when it's going to be over. Also plan to make a funny face for the ride photo at the top of the drop. My daughter is usually so concerned with out silly-facing me that she forgets about the drop.

I'll second what some others have said - the backwards part is more intense feeling. Almost gives a sensation of going into a backwards loop - but not quite.

Keep in mind also - if you've ever looked at the drop from outside the ride, it looks bigger than it really is because of the forced perspective of the mountain.

Enjoy!!!

OH MY GOD LET ME TELL YOU, I have the SAME problem!! I hate roller coasters because of the drops, I feel like I can't breathe! I won't go on Splash Mountain because of the drop, I can't handle it!

Let me also tell you, Expedition is my most favorite ride EVER!!! One time it was pouring in AK and my sister and I went on Everest like three times in a row. Yes you go backwards in the dark, but it's not that bad it's just fun. And the drop - it looks big and it kind of is but you definitely don't get that bad of the stomach feeling because it's so smooth and kind of at an angle so it doesn't go straight down.

You should definitely go on Expedition Everest, or else you are missing out. I love that ride so much. If you can go on Rock n' Roller Coaster (which I did once and will never do again because of the beginning) you can go on Everest.

Echoing everyone else if you can do RnR then you can do EE. The 'drop' doesn't feel like a drop, its very controlled and as you are facing down too it feels more like you are driving forward fast than falling in any way. It's a great ride experience and the drop is by no means the most notable bit about it, its more of a cake topper.

I tend to find that rides that launch you that this feeling on the first drop goes away, which Expedition Everest does launch you before the "Big drop."

I'm not entirely sure it does "launch" you before the big drop. I think it's more of a gravity thing, as the track is sloped downward leading into the drop.

And I agree with others - the drop is no big thing, but the backwards section is a bit tummy-twisting.
