Expedition Everest Height Requirement

Phew. I've been so worried that it was going to be 69 inches, and that I would need to figure out a way to grow a 1/2 inch by spring.

Yup. Just like people who insist they must go 95MPH on the highway "to survive". There is a speed limit, it's set for a reason, just like height requirements, but unfortunately it may take a tragedy for them to realize the laws of physics apply to them as well.

I'm not a "follow the rules no matter what because it's a rule" type, but I do have a good sense of self-preservation - and I would assume this would extend to my children, if I had any. When a rule is there to protect me or my loved one from dying, I'm gonna be a cautious cookie and assume the engineers who decide such things know what they are talking about.

Exactly. People don't realize or understand that these are big machines and they can be deadly. Sure, there are many safeguards in place to ensure a VERY safe ride (safer than a car, I might add), but these are big machines that can't tell the difference between a large stuffed animal and a small child. It will not hesitate to injure you if you get in the way of its operation. It's as simple as that.
