Expedition Everest.....backwards?

For the longest time, one of the local theme parks in this area had their famous wooden roller coaster (2 sided) offer a forward facing ride and a backwards ride....which was pretty cool. I was just thinking what if they had every other car on EE facing either forward or backward? Could you imagine going down that 80 ft drop backwards? Or imagine the awesome views you'd get going up the main hills backwards (great photo ops). I don't see Disney doing anything like that anytime soon, but I'd be all for it.

I wouldn't.

Aside from the non-designed G forces from not having support at the correct moment a whole slew of show lighting, infrastructure and track switches would be exposed.

If you ever look over the side of the train the way it is now, particularly in the backwards part, you can already see way more of the inner mountain than we probably should.

Love it! Just a backwards facing caboose on a few trains would be awesome!

It's not entirely without precedent, Indy at DLP once ran forwards, then backwards, and forwards again now.

Thought it might add some additional thrills, it would mess with the theming a bit. First, you're "supposed" to be going on a train tour of Everest. Would be odd for a train tour to be running backward? Second, you wouldn't see the projection effect inside the mountain, and of course wouldn't see any of the "broken track" cliff effect (and no BIRD ON A STICK!). And you wouldn't see Disco Yeti. The only additional thrill would be going down the main hill backwards. Doesn't seem worth it IMO.

No... I'd rather be looking forward at the scenes ahead even with seeing the backs of their heads than facing other riders in the car in front of me, looking towards them. And if they are screaming or taking photos or doing other things :hungover: its not directed in my face.

Sounds like more of a Six Flags thing, as they sometimes run their trains backwards on the Batman inverts and some other coasters. Don't see it happening at Disney though, especially not on EE with all the theming you'd be missing.

Nope, talking about Thunder Road.

Carowinds? That's my home town theme park (I'm from Rock Hill) and for a while they had one side of Thunder Road backwards. It was fun but man was it rough in certain parts. Part of that was simply due to it being an old wooden coaster. They've since replaced most of the track in the rough parts, which helps, but backwards coasters can really increase head-bang and positive g-forces, which sometimes is good and sometimes can be quite painful!
