Many people recommend a monopod for night shots at WDW.

It's hard to lug around and i feel silly pretending it's a walking stick.

In reality, a good night shot should require the proper settings (this takes a book on photography and some practice), a tripod, and a squeezey thingy (can't for the life of me remember what they're called, but they let you trigger the camera mechanisms without pushing the button, thus not causing the camera to wiggle).

I'm at the moment trying to hunt down a good mini tripod and using the self-timer with the trashcan technique because it may take a while but is less arduous then the monopod or using the squeezy thingy.

You take incredible photos! I enjoy seeing the "artsy" aspect of Animal Kingdom. It's nice to go there to appreciate the detail and theming. Is there anyway I can get those two in wallpaper size? Like 1280x1024 is ok, but it doesn't really matter. You can get them to me how ever you want, but my email is markttas@gmail.com. Thanks again for theses awesome pictures!

Thank you so much for the Fort Wilderness photos. Beautiful nighttime shots. Plus, no one ever takes pictures of Fort Wilderness! I really miss that place. Haven't been in a long time.

Backside of Everest

I saw a pic this morning of the backside of everest (the show building visible from the parking lot) and it was painted to look like a tibetan monostary. I am not sure if the pic is real or altered and I was wondering if anyone could confirm this for me.

Great pics...made me feel like i was there :D Thanx

No, it really does look like that now. No photoshop.

This might be kind of off topic, but I'm wondering if those new cameras that are coming out now, with the image stabilization feature, will put an end to all this monopod and squeezy thingy nonsense. Then we can finally just go to the parks with a compact camera and get good night shots.

Image stabilization will not help the blurryness of long shutter speed shots taken at night. Your only hope for clear crisp night shots is a mono or tripod. Open your aperature as much as you can and only lengthen your shutter speed till you get the amount of light you are looking for in your shots. Also do not zoom in on your shots, because that will reduce your aperature.

Do you like the shutter speed on your cam? Mine seems to take forever to focus and finally take the picture. I can't do much in the way of spur of the moment/action shots. I looked on amazon for your camera. Are you using any of the special "shot options" in any of your pics? Like twilight or whatever? How does your camera work at night w/o the flash? I can't get a decent pic of the castle lit up w/o the flash to save my life. It's always blurry.

Yes I do like the shutter speed on my camera, its quick and responsive. Yes, I use the special shot options all the time, I use the regular flash for daytime pictures and then I play around with the different night and twilight settings at night. My camera works great at night w/o the flash (as you can see) it just has to be steady or else I get the blurries.

Great photos, as always. Thanks for the update!

I always love the way your pictures come out and the way you take them. And also, thanks for the photos of Fort Wilderness! I haven't seen any pictures from there in a while, I miss it.

Thanks for the great pics (AGAIN!)

My husband has the same digital camera as you, and I can't wait to use it on our trip in a few weeks, he only got it a few days ago. It is amazing the photo quality of the newer cameras, and to look back at old photos from years past.....there is no comparison!

Can't wait for your next photo report!
