Expansion Photos

Ya, it's kinda sad. Especially at my location; Casey's. They are taking out all the old Coca-Cola stained glass windows, and doing some structural work on the building, as well as a typical exterior rehab.

I ride the bus every day from Westclock (Magic Kingdom Cast parking), and the bus route goes down between the traintracks, and the Fantasyland expansion, so I get to see all the construction in all it's glory. Here is what I know.

They are digging and laying plumbing in what I beleive is left over from the 20K show building. There appear to be parts of the concrete wall cut for what look like doors. They are digging like crazy within those two existing walls. Can't tell if it is gonna be for the for Ariel ride, or the BatB area.

Also, just as the bus goes over the bridge that goes over the train tracks, to my left, WDI has set up a large mobile trailor as their headquarters. There is a large 'WDI Fantasyland Expansion' sign on the side, with sorcerer Mickey beside the words. It's quite nice. :) The show building is half way done, and they are currently laying plumbing in the building. Lots of construction trucks.

Also, I picked up a shift at Pinnochios Village Haus, and while cleaning a table on the second story on the balcony facing the back of the castle, you look to the left, and see several parts of the construction/equipment.

Hope this is helpful to you guys! :)

AREM - I appreciate the update! Thank you bunches! Keep us posted...

Actually, what I said, was that they are using the remaining 20K building. But they are adding to it, and laying plumbing and other things underground.

You really should become a CM; You get to see all these cool things every single day. :)

No kidding! I'm from Arkansas! I'm from right below you! What part of MO you from? I love Branson......

And yes, they most certainly would lol If we get caught taking pics in the utilidoors, it's an instant term. Honestly, all they are doing is digging like hell, and laying plumbing and electric down.

But it's quite a sight to see.......

Indeed, I should feel just as terrible for sitting on top of the concrete PPS walls and taking pictures as the parents that allow their 7 year olds climb up there and run around. Not only have I not done anything illegal, but I and anyone else taking pictures are fine with taking responsibility for our "wrongdoing" because that is just part of collecting visuals for the fans. I, and clearly several other people on this thread, don't appreciate your apparent need to not only pass judgement, but actually wish us ill. Very sad indeed. If you continue to be seized with the urge to be the moral watchdogs of this thread then I ask that you simply remove yourselves from it because you obviously have no interest in the topic at hand.

Actually, as a Cast Member, I would also like to reiterate the point that Disney did not put the wall there for you to climb on.

It's a safety issue and a huge annoyance for cast members who have to chase you down off of it.

If Disney wanted you to see the construction, they would tear the wall down. Much like if they wanted you to climb the wall, it would feature a staircase or ladder.

On a related note, if we wanted you to sit on the railings in the switchbacks... there would be chairs on them.

Simple respect for property, something that seems to be severely lacking in park guests lately... don't contribute.

/end rant

Now, does anyone know what sort of time table FLE is on? Will they be opening pieces and parts to guests as they are completed or will they wait until its all done and unveil it all at once? I'm guessing that they're starting the more tedious projects first and then moving on to subprojects more easily accomplished, am I right?

What I meant by that, wm, was within the phase areas would things be opened? Por exemplo, if they finished Cinderella's chateau before the BatB area or LM, would they open it to the public or wait till everything in that "zone", if you will, was ready to go?

They will reopen FL in stages as the work is completed. But again, Steve has put together a comprehensive FAQ section which details the project further.

I didn't think there was any remaining show building from 20K? Here is a picture of the site from Bing maps (probably from a few year ago), and the only structures back there apear to be some trailers and temporary buildings.

Thanks for the pictures :)
I'm very excited about this expansion.
I hate to say this but according to these pictures, it looks like there is nothing going on at the moment but have a few things for the expansion.
I wish I got to see what it looks like now… I have to wait till after Christmas :(

The huge 2 walls on the left of the picture are (from what I've been led to believe from working in Magic Kingdom) leftovers from the 20K show building.

The top right is the entrance to the Utilidors, if you need your bearings.

:sohappy: Thanks dan! :sohappy: Bing maps, you said? I've noticed Google only seems to refresh their shots once every year or 6

Wow, great pic!

The big wide area within the two remaining walls there has been dug completely up. Nearly to the level of the utilidoors. The construction equipment in there stretches as far as the eye can see. It's a war zone out there!
