Expansion: Animation courtyard and beyond

So assuming a 5th park will never come (and I don't think it will) where would Disney ever put a Marvel land if they get the rights back or have we concluded that they won't.

IF they did, then there's 2 places it could go in WDW which is either Animation Courtyard and going right back to the offices and sunset showcase. Only other option is Echo lake / Indy and Star tours. Maybe out into the parking lot.

Zootopia in AC would make sense but I then don't personally want them in Tree of Life too.

I agree on Marvel. I’ve always thought it would make sense in the Echo Lake area, perhaps extending all the way over to Star Tours to retheme it to Ant Man or Iron Man or something. I just know the rights issue doesn’t seem likely to maybe ever go away. I wish it would because I personally think HS is the best landing spot for such a land, but I don’t know if Disney is confident at all that will ever happen.

I may be wrong, but wouldn’t echo lake, Indy, and Star Tours and maybe some parking lot have more space than even AC? I always assumed AC would have to be a little smaller land and that echo lake could potentially be something far bigger later on.

Assuming they cut out everything "backstage" other than the water-cooling system. Also assuming they ate the whole launch bay building... you could fit about 13.5 acers of new theme park space with only loosing launch bay guest facing. for reference SWGE is about 14 acers

So here’s my question, since Zootopia is the big rumor for this area. Is Zootopia a big enough IP for them to have as a show in AK and a whole land in DHS? I love the movie but I feel like it’s not as popular as other IPs
The film did pretty well at the box office, so there's that.

My question is, won't it be really weird to have a Zootopia land in one park and a Zootopia show in another? Unless they're gonna replace the Zootopia show after Zootopia in Animation Courtyard opens (which you know they won't)...

The Muppet Theater should get gutted and replaced with something good, like a 4D Roger Rabbit film experience. Roger Rabbit has a tie to Old Hollywood (the supposed theme of DHS) that the puppets don't, and deserves a bigger presence in DHS beyond the billboard and broken window. But unless better people start running things at Disney, and unless Spielberg gets the stick out of his butt over the rights to the Rabbit (he'd apparently rather let the rabbit die than do anything with him), that probably won't happen. Pity.

Not sure if anyone follows Gary Wolf, the creator of Roger, on social media but he’s been hinting that something is happening with the rights to Roger. Will be interesting to see if this goes anywhere.
Plus there was this from Zemeckis...

I mean there are several examples of IPs being spread among different parks without feeling weird. Finding Nemo is in Epcot and AK, the little mermaid is in MK and soon DHS again and Beauty and the Beast is even in three parks with MK, Epcot and DHS. So I guess having a Zootopia Land in one park and a Zootopia show in another would be okay

Is Zootopia actually the main rumor for this area or is this an echo chamber?
My understanding is that it is in constant flux at the moment but that AC is slated for the next expansion for the park. But it was considered for MI, and I believe either @ToTBellHop or @PREMiERdrum have mentioned it at one point could have been 1) MI, 2) Zootopia, or 3) Villains. Two of the three are now going in elswhere, so that leaves Zootopia.

Though apparently there are whispers of Simpsons?

I think they likely have multiple possible proposals and the ultimate decision is likely still very in flux.

I think Cars was also a rumor at one point and that is obviously going to MK.

Fan rumors tend to circle around a east-coast Toontown or some sort of superhero land with Big hero 6, incredibles, and Dr. Strange. However, I think both of those fan ideas involved RNRC (Powerline or Incredicoaster).

Definitely in flux but I’ve heard Simpsons and Zootopia for what it’s worth. Who knows what it’ll actually be by the time it’s greenlit.

If you are looking for a list of what Disney is probably looking at...

I think the top grossing franchises that Disney owns, but isn't currently using in the parks are:
  • Ice Age (6.42 billion)
  • The Simpsons (4.9 billion) [Don't have the rights at the moment]
  • Inside out (2.61 billion)
  • The Incredibles (2.37 billion)
  • Planet of the Apes (2.27 billion)
Zootopia is ~$1 billion, but with a sequel on the way, it will probably jump into this list.

Along with movies that are having sequels out soon that could put the franchise over $2 billion...
  • Moana (I'm not counting the walk through)
  • Zootopia
  • Lilo and Stitch
Other project that have lower representation in the parks but have new movies coming out.
  • Lion King
  • Aladdin

Add frozen, Incredibles to the list of movies coming out.

I still say that AC will be one of three lands: frozen, Zootopia or Incredibles depending on movie performance in the next few years.
