Exciting times at Disney currently

Thought with it being Christmas I'd start a positive thread as there seem to be many people currently being negative about the place. I'm not saying that they're wrong and I'm right, but it's my thread and I genuinely think there's a lot to be positive about. I realise the price hikes along with the early months of Galaxy's Edge have contributed to the gloom and I accept that people weren't happy about that, but let's look at what's happening now or is just around the corner.

'Rise of the Resistance' is currently knocking it out of the park. Oh yes I know we'll hear "It can't be judged yet", but it can. Numbers are harder to analyse due to Christmas but when did Disney last open a ride that received such stellar reviews? It seems guests are loving the ride with people blown away with it.

'Skyliner' no reported deaths so far.

'Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway' opening in a few months. Along with many I am sad to see the TGMR go, however I'm genuinely excited to see this new trackless ride opening. It looks bright and colorful and even the story line looks fun.

'Ratatouille Ride' opening next year and after seeing the attraction from Paris on youtube, it looks great fun. Some prefer originality but personally I have no plans to go to Paris so have no concerns over that.

'Tron' again another attraction that looks really fun. Again a duplicate but unless you've been or are going to Tokyo, I don't see an issue. Should add another mild thrill ride to the MK along with the mountains and looks a great addition.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' ok we don't know too much about this one yet however I can see Disney wanting to make sure this one is good. I get it's placement is the biggest concern so far, but there's nothing can be done about that at this stage. Add a groovy soundtrack to the attraction and I can see this being a fun ride.

'Space Restaurant' looks like this could be a solid addition. We tend to not eat in the parks much at all, however due to the nature of this restaurant we'll certainly be giving it a try.

'Epcot overhaul' will miss the old set up but life is full of changes and hopefully it will look just as unique after the work is complete.

'Drawn to Life' The new Cirque offering at Disney. The only downside is I can't imagine anything equaling or bettering La Nouba, prove me wrong Disney.

'Star Wars Hotel' Whilst not really my sort of thing (especially with the price), I can see many guests absolutely loving this. If role playing is their thing, then I'm sure they'll find this hotel along with it's close proximity to Galaxy's Edge right up their street.

Apologies if I've missed anything and feel free to add what you like. All in all I can't remember as much going on in quite a while. Will Disney get it all perfect, of course not and much is subjective anyway. But why all the doom and gloom, there's exciting times ahead.

Since I have only been able to get on Pandora ride once since it opened (and we go to the parks 5 or 6 times a year), I doubt I will be able to get on any of the Star Wars rides for years. So, yes, its nice that they are adding new rides, but not so nice we cant get on them. We arent waiting in line for 3 hours. I am glad they are adding & updating Epcot. Its my favorite park since its not as crowded as MK. But, maybe it will be with new rides? We love Soaring.

Unfortunately when a ride is really popular that can happen, Hagrids has a similar issue. To be honest, I'm sure you'd be able to get on Smugglers Run much quicker than that if not on Rise.

Positives...

CoP continues to avoid the chopping block

No implementation of paid FP's

Despite the crazy price increases of the past few years, if you are buying a multi-day ticket exceeding 4 or 5 days, it is still pretty good bang for the buck

Thanks ...I enjoy these kinds of posts. We need to be reminded amongst the doomers that WDW has so much to offer and despite costs going up, we are getting more. Ive said it before and Ill say it again, I still find Disney gives me more joy, entertainment and value for my money than other trips Ill take.

Thanks, Mergatroid, for this thread!
We love, love WDW at Christmas. The amazing decorations and lighting are worth the trip, IMO. The resort decorations are fantastic too. I sometimes stand and stare at all this (out of people's way, LOL).
The rides and attractions are just icing on the Disney cake :) for us. We are going FEb 25 to March 4th. So we will miss the opening of MM train ride!
Kind of rambling here, but I love the 40's and 50's decorations that are at HS. I remember having a set of those pink ceramic poodles (wish I still had them), and my parents used that silver tinsel on the tree. There are so many amazing "little" touches that make Disney special at Christmastime.
thanks again:) and Merry Christmas!

I for one dont frequent the boards like i used to due to the negativity. Its not just this site, its any message board, or social media. The sky is falling and we are all getting screwed poor poor me. Thank you for the positivity, i miss the way this board used to be about the upcoming rides and awesome memories. You also made great points that ive argued for years, yes they are duplicates (tron and rat), but i dont plan on going to those parks (if im in europe im going for europe, not the mouse.. although i really want to see the dragon under the castle). Heck many people who go to world may never even see disney land.
So lets get mystic manor also!!!
Have a wonderful christmas!!

Nice to see a lot of optimism. Let’s not forget where we were in 2015, with nothing but rumours about potential additions, and parks neglected of investment for over a decade.

There’s still work to be done, but WDW feels fresh again, and it felt pretty stale in 2015.

Someone NOT dying on a transportation system is exciting. LOL. The new Cirque show will be an improvement. I've seen a few others and La Nuba has been my least favorite, even though I really liked it, it was just not their best offering. Hope they offer some good discounts after the first few months. They are expensive to see.I was never at Epcot during the "heyday" of the park, but I never liked FW, and felt there was way too little to do. This overhaul is great, just wish they didn't take so long in their work sometimes.
