I'm usually the first to decry outsourcing (I've made no mystery about my feelings pertaining to the outsourced Valet's- they stink), but I support this one. If my dog could have a decent time in the kennel while I'm in the park and not worrying about her, even better.

yea its pretty disturbing...I have even heard that some overnight cleanup crews have been outsourced already.
Yep, and they don't wear Disney name tags or costumes. They have their own company's maintenance uniforms. Saw them late one evening at the Wilderness Lodge in October.

Beginning January 10, 2008, the Walt Disney World Resort will transition its kennel operations to an industry expert, Best Friends PetCare Inc. Best Friends is a national provider of pet hospitality in the United States, with 44 locations in 18 states.

Conversion of Walt Disney World Resort Kennels to Best Friends will occur in phases throughout the months of January and February 2008 with the anticipated transition schedule as follows:

1/10/08 - Transportation and Ticket Center and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground Kennels

1/24/08 - Epcot Kennel

2/7/08 - Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Kennels

Best Friends is also slated to build and operate a full-service, luxury pet "resort" at the Walt Disney World Resort. The one-of-a-kind pet facility is expected to open in mid-2009 and will be located on Bonnet Creek Parkway. The luxury pet "resort" will cater to park and resort Guests and will provide a full range of pet hospitality services. Note, with the addition of this facility, there are no plans to allow pets in Guest rooms at any of the Disney Resort Hotels with the exception of designated service animals.

For additional information on Best Friends PetCare Inc., please view their website at http://www.bestfriendspetcare.com

Will they offer a walking service so that i wont have to down my margarita at Epcot's gate only to have my dog walk me?

I can hardly contain my excitement about kennels!

Personally, I would only find the kennels exciting if the Cast and Crew from Beauty and the Beast treated my dog like Belle was treated during "Be Our Guest"

OOOOH! I love this news! I was really bummed to read that the kennels they have now won't even take your dog for a walk while you're in the park and you have to go back and walk them 3 times a day. I think that's nuts.

This sounds so great.

I agree! When I posted about this a few months ago, I got comments like "How do you not want to see your pet a million times when you're on vacation!?!?!?!?!"
I love my dogs, but sometimes everyone needs a vacation from everyone. Good to know they'll be living it up like their daycare here in NYC. The crates and cages at WDW kennels always seems a little prehistoric.

Bringing back an old thread.... I used the new services this weekend for three days and really enjoyed the fact that the pup would be walked and fed throughout the day. I even found out that the cuter the puppy, the more chance it has of being let out of the cage and run around the play area or the office.

I did however find out that once the new motel is opened, all of the current kennels will be closed. This I think will be a major pain for those who are just visiting for a day or so and have to travel to the motel, drop of their pet, then drive to the park they wish to enjoy.

If your at MK until close, will the kennel stay open long enough to pick up your pet? If the motel only stays open an hour later then the last park, I don't see that being enough time to leave say MK, get to the parking lot, drive to the motel, and check out your dog.

Just some thoughts......

again, LOVE THE NEW SERVICES!!!!

A family friend of mine just used Best Friends Pet Care last week in New Jersey. She has 2 dogs under 10 pounds. For 9 days the bill was 639 dollars. Their price was also discounted. It's around 40 dollars a night per dog.

The Disney prices are so much better. Seems so worth it!

Feel free to say "Holy thread bump Batman."

Yes, I am bumping this because I am dying to know if the new facility is still a go or yet another victim of the downturn in the economy. Can anyone advise? TIA

Meh, only a year, that's nothing as of late.
And people say WDW isn't refurbing enough, how could we forget about the kennel!
