EXCITING BEYOND THE RIDES!!!

Hello Fellow Disney Lovers, I will be going to The World for 9 days late Jan, early Feb, staying @ AKL. While I really like the rides I was looking for possibly something different to do. I know the New Fantasyland may have some options, and wanted to get your suggestions on things to do beyond the normal park activities. I may want to break away and do something Solo. Here are some of the things I have already experienced:
Keys To The Kingdom, Beyond The Seeds, Backyard Safari, Wanyama Safari (AKL), Horseback Riding @ Ft. Wilderness.
** I am not so great on heights so I am hesitant for Wild Africa Trek (also kind of expensive)
Any ideas you have are really appreciated!!!!!!!

I have always thought it would be fun to do one of the Segway tours. There is the 'Around the World at Epcot' tour and also the 'Wilderness Back Trail Adventures' tour at Fort Wilderness. We've never had the time to fit them into our vacations yet though. Maybe next time!

I would also suggest the segway tour in EPCOT, its on my to do list for our next trip. If you're looking for something completely out of the parks, you could always resort hop, I've started to really enjoy seeing all the different resorts. Or you could spend some time at the Boardwalk or DTD. I also really like heading over to the mini golf course for a round, or if you play real golf they have great courses. The great thing about Disney is there is so much to do.

We did the Wild Africa Trek - less intense version. While others are going across rope bridges etc, we had a separate guide who led us around "on stage" taking pictures of us and giving us great info. We also met with an animal specialist on the way. We then got on the truck did a little bit of the regular safari - again with our guide taking pictures - and then we pulled over and picked up the group that had been in "the jungle"
We finished the trek out with them - had lunch. Pretty cool. The truck went places the regular safari truck couldn't go and we stopped for extended times for photos and info. Best experience of our trip. We went the end of October and got $50 off because we went in the afternoon - 1:15 TOUR.

and bus to swan you cross the street to fantasia gardens.

Just wanted to added that if you decide to try Fantasia Gardens and are leaving from your resort, you'll have to transfer at a hub in order to get to the Swan. There are a few one way resort to resort buses, but that's not one of them. In your case from AKL, take the AK bus, first stop, and then bus stop #3 at AK, the Epcot Resorts bus. The Swan is the first stop.
I would take a cab.

Not counting taking a taxi, it's probably quicker to take a bus from AKL to DHS and then walk to the Swan/Fantasia Gardens. You could also hop on a boat if it happens to be pulling in when you get to DHS.

I did the Epcot Segway tour and it was actually really fun. The half hour or so lecture in Segway usage can be a bit of a bote but once you are in the world showcase its exciting. Seeing everything completely empty is really neat and offers great photos. Segway are also pretty fun to zip around on.
