I would love to see a wood roller-coaster, but due to the climate and maintenance costs, I bet it will probably end up being steel.

I enjoy the rides, I love WDW (been twice this year) and will continue to go, but I think we as paying customers completely have the right to question some of the moves or ask for a little more creativity. If you're completely happy with everything disney has ever done, that's great, I'm happy for you.

Thanks for summing it up Merlin.

I wasn't talking to you...Merlin's posts average about 500 words and there are many of them in this thread--no one is about to read every one.

Merlin, there are no STRONG similarities between the attractions you speak of, so what is the problem? Mission: SPACE is NOTHING like Mission to Mars--you go to Mars, that's about the only similarity; everything else is drastically changed--such will be the case of EVEREST versus Matterhorn Bobsleds.

Gotcha. Just to set the record straight, I'm not trying to judge the quality of the rides, their ride systems, or anything of the sort. I thought M:S was a great ride, even if it did make me slightly nauseus, and I can't wait for EE to come around, I just question the theming that's all.

As far as the Original topic, I see what could look like a possible wooden structure, but I agree that it almost has to be steel. I think it would be a logisitcal nightmare to try and run the ride in and out of the mountain structure with a wooden coaster, much less take away from the mountain theme and reduce the effects of any forced perspective they will no doubt use to make the mountain look bigger.

So you're counting the number of words in my posts now??? Gosh what I wouldn't pay to have that kind of extra time on my hands!!

In any event, you say there are no STRONG similarities between the attractions I mentioned and I agree. I referred to the similarities as "pretty obviously similar" (or something to that effect). If you took it as me saying "STRONG similarities" then I don't know what else I can say. You've already made it clear you are unwilling to read my posts (yet you're still quick to comment on them and misquote me time and again). Nevertheless, it has become painfully obvious to me that you, ISTCNavigator57, are relentless in wanting to turn this into a fight and I'm merely trying to clarify my original point (which you still don't get). So why don't we just agree to disagree on this one. You have no problems with the similarities, and I'm a tad disappointed by them. In the end, we're both clearly huge Disney fans. So let's let this one go, okey doke?

Oh, and my two cents on the ORIGINAL question....steel.

I'm sure it will be steel but will look like a woodie. Just like Gemini at Cedar Point and California Screamin' at DCA.

As I said earlier in this thread, I'd like to see Disney use someone other than Vekoma and Intamin might be next in line. Disney has used them for Cali Screamin' and Indiana Jones at DLP.

Intamin built the Hulk, didn't they? I consider that to be the best.

Not realistic enough?

"A wooden coaster would certainly give the ride that wonderful, rickety-old railroad feel. (Big Thunder Mountain is just too smooth to be a "runaway mine train". Great ride, but not as realistic!) "

Uh......derailing realistic enough?

Are you saying they will change the theme of everest over what happened in Cali?

No.
