Ever Have a Dud Disney Vacation?

I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had a Disney trip that turned out to be a dud?

My DH and I have gone to Disney World every year since we've been married, sometimes twice a year, and every now and then we have a trip that turns out to be not as much fun as some of our previous trips. On one trip I pulled out my back a few days before we left so I couldn't go on any roller coasters and I also ended up staying in the room for one of the days because I had a fever. And on our last trip my DS, who was one at the time, cried for about three hours each night because his first teeth were coming in.

We just planned our next trip for this May and I'm determined to not let it be a dud!!

I haven't gone nearly as much as your family has but only issue I have ever had is just never seems to be enough time to do it all! lol But that is just another reason for me to come back again. I can only hope that I never have a dud at Disney.

Since we go every year, it never really bothers me when stuff like that happens, because I know we'll be back the next year.

This year I'm going to try to learn from my mistakes on the last trip. It was only my second trip there with my son and I was really strict about him not sleeping with us in our bed. I bet if I had just let him sleep with us he wouldn't have cried so much. Also, on this trip we're staying in a suite, so I think that will help. When we were in the same room with him, you couldn't breath without him waking up!

well i have, ok before i say this you must know that i'm not pin pointing anyone and i'm not trying to be rude. but...

we went in july and the brazillian tour group was there for like a field trip, and i could not stand them along with the many other guests that didnt like them. they sang loudly in spanish and the had their flags and stupid loud songs they sang every where including inside HM i was gunna flip out so... i did they started singing again on the last bus from the mk to the all star music so it was really late and everyone was tired, so they continued to sing.i screamed something like " SHUT THE (insert word here) UP!" my mom was mortified lol, so finally the bus driver said yes i agree with the people up here which means me and my family. soo yeah i lost it. lol but just that one time speaking up didnt work i had to put up w/ them for 3 other days after being there for 4 already, so a week putting up with them. uggg so now we plan around them, they were rude to everyone around them even CM's which everyone desserves to be treated kindly but no, they didn't care

hope you guys dont think im aweful. anyone else have a bad time with this group?

Bad trip to Disneyland

We just got back from Disneyland. I was sick on the flight out from Michigan and was ok but not my best the next day that we went into the park. Then two days before leaving my husband got sick, and when he gets sick he is in bed. So our last day of the trip was spent in our room at the Disneyland Hotel. At least the hotel is so close to the parks I went out and walked around by myself, but when you travel that far for a 4 day vacation it's a bummer.:dazzle:

Oh yeah, we've experienced the big groups of annoying teens too. I recall one trip where there were cheerleaders everywhere. They were constantly cheering and were just so darn perky. Ugh.

Wow, that's a bummer. I know what you mean though. Sometimes I think my DH thinks I'm a little over the top with Disney too. Though it gives him a good excuse to get to go back each year.

LOL, my wife isn't the biggest Disney fan, when we took our first trip to WDW back about 9-10 years ago when we were still dating, my "Disney-ness" kind of shocked her. But over the years she has grown to enjoy it more and more. So now we are taking our god daughter this summer, and for the first time she is as excited as I am about going to WDW. :D

So just goes to show you, if you can't find a Disney nut, you can make one.

We've gotten sick our last two trips to WDW. Between the hubby and I taking turns staying back at the hotel with sick kids and then getting ill myself once the kids were back up & about -- well we've lost a few park days each trip. I guess I don't consider either trip a "dud". We had a great time before getting ill and after we were back on our feet. I'm just glad we generally plan 10+ day trip. It would have really stunk getting sick and missing days on a 5 or 7 day trip!

My last trip in October 2006, I had major surgery a month before we left had serious complications where I needed my wound packed and bandaged every morning by my mother who lived an hour outside of Orlando. We also took our 14 month old twins and we were only there for 3 days and two nights.

I cried every day since I was so upset we could not do as much as I wanted to. By 5:00 one day we had been on 2 rides, got the boys hair cut and checked into the hotel. Oh and we ate lunch. I was like this is costing us over 300 a day for 2 rides. We did make the best of it though and wound up having a good time, but when my BIL asked us to go to Disney this year I was like YES YES YES, so that we could have a great time and make up for last year.

I went in 1996 in July and there were brazilian tour groups all over and I totally agree with you.

I have also had a dud day. Mine wasn't a big group though, it was a small, drunken group of foul-mothed fools in the pre show for HISTA. I asked them very nicely to please stop as my six year old daughter was trying to enjoy the presentation (she's emotional like her mom and was really worried about the lost doggy). I finally wound up getting a CM to come talk to them but they acted like I was the problem (maybe I was - if so, sorry you drunk jerk). Finally, they muttered some threats and went on into the movie. By this time I was bawling and my daughter was crying, so we just left. At this point, I was afraid we would meet up with these fine folks again, and as people just love to try to take out the big guy (my husband is 6'5") we decided not to stay for Illuminations and left Epcot before it got dark. Wishes was good that night. Sorry for the vent, but when bad things happen in my happy place, it can sort of deflate the whole trip.

One time we were in this room and in the room next to us there was this kid crying, it lasted for like 3 hours at a time, every night. Then we ran into like a bazillion of Brazillians in the parks.... just joking. Sorry couldn't resist.

I do feel bad though for when people come from out of town and spend $$$$$ and you can see them just losing it because you can tell the amount spent vs what they can or can't do finally hits them.

:ROFLOL: I did wonder during all the crying how sound proofed the walls were!!

Admitedly, with any crumby thing that happens, I completely have "Disney Memory" about pretty much every trip. After our last trip, we swore we were going to wait until DS was 2 1/2 to go again. But January rolls around and I just remember the fun stuff about the last trip and swear that things will be different this time! He'll be 1 1/2 in May and I have a whole plan about how to handle nighttime sleeping and how to get as much out of our visits to the parks as we can, even though he can't go on all the big rides and we'll have to be back to the hotel by 12:30 for a long nap.

I guess I have on my "Disney Colored Glasses". :)

They are there in varying volumes all summer. We've gone early, middle, and late in the summer and have always had some kind of encounter with them. If you go in the summer, they will be there too.

There was an entire thread on these tour groups a while back. A lot of people have had issues with them from being run over or into or them cutting in line. They also pretend they can't speak any English though many groups require that they be fluent in English.

I don't enjoy sharing the parks with them, but it is usually once in a lifetime for them. I have been 6 times already and most of them will never get that opportunity. Some things are simply intolerable, but I don't let them get me down for the most part.

BTW, we don't think you're mean. It's a very common feeling towards large groups of anything.
