Ever Have 3 Adjacent Rooms?

Anyone ever requested 3 adjacent rooms?

We're in the early stages of planning a trip for 2 families for late 4/2005, probably 6 or 7 nights. Money's tight these days, so cost-cutting is going to be a priority.

Each family is 2 adults and 3 kids, aged 2-7. Thinking of adding at least 1 older cousin to help with the kids. So 11 people in all.

The other family is leaning toward staying offsite to save $. My feeling is that offsite is a completely different experience. So I'm looking into cheap ways we could stay on site.

My current thought is to spring for 1 AP, and try to book 3 adjacent All-Star rooms with AP discount? Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks!

You can get rooms ADJACENT to each other no problem. That doesn't mean they will be CONNECTED TO each other though!

Just make that request when you book and then follow up a few days before your trip with the room assignor. They should be able to get you within a couple doors of each other.

At the Wilderness Lodge they were able to get us two adjoining rooms and a"BUNK BED" room across the hall. Worked out GREAT!

GOOD LUCK!

If going in late 2004/early 2005, I would stay at Pop Century.

Nov-Apr are group months at the All-Stars. It's going to be much easier to get 3 rooms next to each other at Pop rather than the Stars.

Fax/Call about 1 week before going.

You might be able to get 2 connectings (with door in between) and then one more next door to one of those.

Explain your situation about the number of kids to adults you'll have in your party.

If you are going with that many people you could take advantage of the Grand Gathering program through Walt Disney Travel. They can help you with anything from room requests to dinner reservations and much more. It would be a great benefit to take advantage of like I said especially if you are traveling with such a large group. They also have priority seating for the Fireworks Shows at the Theme Parks. The Grand Gathering is wonderful, I went with a group of 15 People in November 2003 and the benefits were great. Call Disney Reservations and explain you situation to them and see what they can help you with.

Good Luck

We have 12 in our Grand Gathering group, 6 children, 1 child and one adult on oxygen. Staying at Pop Century (after much debate and anxiety on my part) and our Grand Rep. has been very helpful in 1). arranging the oxygen tanks to be delivered to the rooms, 2). ensure non smoking rooms for our party due to medical requirements of above situation &3). arrange for our two rooms to be connecting and one room will be nearby. I will let you know if they did indeed fulfill these requests for us. Our rep. said it wouldn't be a problem.

Grand Gatherings does offer lots of extras, unfortunately many of these come at a rather "grand" price. So if you are on a tight budget you might not want to do those, but they will help you with your arrangements for meals, etc. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips.

I've been meaning to look into the Magical/Grand Gatherings promotions. I'm not sure if they'll be around next year. I hate to be such a cheapskate, but did Grand Gatherings save you a lot on hotel, or was it mostly other benefits?

We're going to have 3 adjacent rooms (2 connecting) when we stay at Pop Century in 2 days. :sohappy:

Grand Gatherings is really about helping groups do things together - dining, tours, special merchandise, etc. There isn't any special pricing that I know of, but we used a Disney Visa promo, and that helped reduce the price significantly (3 children under 9 for free + $100 Disney Dollars per room)

Dwarful, I think you answered my last question -- sounds like Grand Gatherings might not be for us since cost may end up being our overriding factor.

Wow, is that Disney Visa promo expire any time soon? Are all kids under 9 free (hotel) with it? Cause we'll have 6, which might beat any AP discount I might be able to get.

Oh let me clarify,
We used Grand Gatherings for our room and used an AP rate, paid $55 a night per room for all 3 rooms. Just need one ap to get that rate so that might be something to look into if you will can't get a great rate.
Grand gatherings gave us a special number to call for meal reservations..perhaps that is how I got our gang of 12 in cindy's breakfast on my first try w/an 8am seating. But they don't charge you any extra for this help.
The parade special seating is however an extra charge and its not cheap. All we really used the GG rep for was our rooms, our meals that we really wanted (a few character meals) and our special needs for child and adult.
Hope that helps..
also you might want to let Pam w/ Kingdom Konsultants here on the boards know when it gets time to book, she is great at getting the best rates for board members.

Does anyone have info on the Disney VISA promo that HauntedPirate mentions, where kids under 9 stay free, or maybe a link to more info?

Hey Spoodles, I have the Disney Visa Card, and I don't remember getting any offer better than the ap rate of $55. But perhaps the rate they are talking about does not include park passes. We are paying a flat rate of $55 and each room has 2 adults and 2 children as we have 12 in our group. Good luck to you. I don't have the Disney Visa Card link handy but I'll look it up and post it unless someone else beats me to it!

Dwarful, thanks so much for your help. $55 seems like it would be hard to beat, but I will be checking into the Disney VISA deals just in case. We may be upgrading our plans, possibly to Port Orleans or Ft. Wilderness cabins -- current thought is that we'll need to spend lots of "down time" back at the hotel with 6 kids aged 2-7, and so we may need more pool options and/or roomier rooms.

When's your trip?

Spoodles you might want to take a look at the Walt Disney World website; www.waltdisneyworld.com. There are a couple of different promotions out right now that might save you some money depending on when you can go. I am going with a bunch of people in August 2 of whom are florida residents and we got our room only for $69.00 per night at the All Stars Sports. Check it out..

Hey Spoodles our trip is June 3-14th. we will have down time as well, the youngest child has medical disablities that will require him to return to the resort for meds and nap. So I will post back after our trip and let everyone know if anyone in my family is still speaking to me!:) Seriously though, I think we can handle it. If you are wanting to return to your room during the day, then I would do whatever I had to to stay onsite. Its so much easier that way when traveling in a pack...oops, i meant a group! :)

Wow, almost here - have a great time!

I really want to stay onsite, but I may lose this battle. They're all leaning toward the Holiday Inn Family Suites. According to the Unofficial Guide, it's so close that commute times beat most of the onsite resorts. Downside is we either have to live by they're limited shuttle schedule, or always drive 2 cars AND PAY FOR PARKING (yuck). We're having a big double-family meeting tomorrow to decide.

I'll look forward to your post when you get back. (And I'm sure they'll still be speaking to you. :) )

WDWHeadBanger...yeah, I have never seen 3 in a row either. But the CM I talked to, because of health issues w/ one adult and child, we were told we could get the connecting rooms and then the other room would be nearby. Alright then, if you see some gang in Cardinal Red you'll know its me!

Spoodles..good luck on your travel plans..here are a few positives for onsite:
1) Disney drops you off at the parks, not at a the TTC where you must catch either monorail, boat etc. which involves further travel time.

2).Onsite guests get the early entry options.

3).Onsite guests have Disney transportation which runs much more frequently than off site shuttles

4).Onsite guests can have their packages delivered to their resort so they don't have to haul them around the parks all day!

Either way, your goin' to Disney! have fun!

Guests that stay off site can have their packages delivered to guest services so they collect them as they leave.

As to on site shuttles I waited 20 in for transport in march I could have driven quite a way in that time .

I find travelling on the monorail or boat part of the fun of Disney .

Early option could be a bonus if all the rides were open and I could get out of bed.:animwink:

Where ever you end up laying your head you'll have a good time -the magic is where and how you make it -not where you stay .
