Ever had this happen?

How many here have called up WDW to book a vacation and were able to get free dining or a room discount that wasn't being offered to the general public? I'm looking for those who could get a PIN offer without actually having a PIN. I have not gotten anything like this, but if you have, please share your technique. Thanks!

Sort of. First, the elusive PIN codes. It is completely random. I have had one 3 times, one we were able to use. There is no rhymn or reason to it. I have not recieved one since we moved to DC but I got it more often when I lived in SC. I'm sure that has nothing to do with it but that just happens to be the way it is. When you call, you have to give the PIN code. I have never spoken to a Cast Member who offers one up to you or offers a discount. You have to call with that info. Also - I tried to give a friend my pin code and since it was a different last name, they wouldn't let them use it. This tells me that it is person specific and they won't randomly give it to you.

Why did I say sort of? Last year, when I called about a one night stay at Grand Floridian with my mom, I was talking to a Cast Member and I wasn't booking anything b/c the price was too high. She then said, "wait, a special offer just popped up". It was a very discounted room only discount rate for us to stay. She explained that this only happens randomly and she had only had it happen to her once before. The room was crazy cheap for the GF. Mom and I ended up booking it but you MUST book it at that moment bc if you don't, it will be lost and will not be offered to you again.

One year my sister family and I were visiting my parents in St Pete and decided to go to WDW for a night. We called up and all the rooms were high and we would need 2 rooms so I was going to say forget it when suddenly she had the Cabins for one night for 100 -needless to say we took it!

By all reports, the PIN offers that people are able to get, are actually and truly assigned to them. However, the email/post card got lost, hadn't arrived yet, etc, etc. Obviously WDW keeps a record of all issued PINs so that they can tell if you should be able to use it, so people do occasionally have luck calling up and asking if they have a PIN assigned to their name.

We need time for things to happen.
We've regularly recieved PIN codes in email and have used them every year unless there's been a 'general public'
deal that's been better like free dining etc.

One year, I received one and my wife called to use it...They said they didn't have a record of the PIN and it went back and forth. Let me just say that My wife gets really PO'd if she thinks she's getting ripped off.
Needless to say it got a little bit heated..
They never were able to turn up a record of the PIN offered. eventually gave us a better discount than we had in the email PIN so it all worked out.

Oh....Uhm...I should probably mention that I went back to the PIN code email to triple check it afterwards it was expired by a month.

In early 2010 I went online and priced out 5 nights/6 days with dining at the Contemporary for June. It was just too much so I didn't book it. A few days later I logged on to check the prices at other resorts and I got a pop-up window with a special offer for the Contemporary based on my saved search that was about 35% cheaper. The offer actually said something like "we have a special offer for you based on you previous search" It may have been that a discount had become available. That was the only random discount I've ever seen. I've never got a bounce back offer or a PIN.

After January of this year I've been staying at the Dolphin. It's just so much more reasonable.
