Ever gone to Disney and skipped the Parks entirely?

Hahahahahaha...ahahahahah..uh..wha..wait...you're serious?
NO WAY JOSE.

I gotta be honest, I have hard time going ANYWHERE south of the Mason-Dixon line and not trying to find my way to the parks. Forget about going to WDW and just being like "yeah whatever, I'm chilling by the pool...this is awesome"

When we went the last time for 11 days about day 7 , my wife wanted to come again and do everthing but the parks. But when we set up our next trip she wanted 7 day out of the 9 but talked her down to 5. I would love the challenge of trying to do, but not this time ,with the mine train and the completed Fantasyland , could not do it this time!

I don't know about going to Disney and not going to the parks, but I have spent at least one day a week nearly every time I go to rent a watercraft, hit Downtown Disney, mini-golf, etc. Sounds like a fun day, but it's usually my least favorite day of the trip! I have been known to go to the parks and not go on many (or any) attractions. Sometimes I like to just take it all in, take photos, relax, and just enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells without rushing to the attractions and waiting on the lines. Has anyone else done that?

On more than one occasion. We like to have a "down" day, i.e., no parks, the day before we leave. Just wander around the resort, relax, swim (I do the laundry, LOL), etc., and then head over to DTD for an early dinner and some last minute shopping.

I've gone on trips when we attended a Xmas/Halloween party on a Thursday or Friday night and stay the weekend without going back to a park, it's easy to spend 2-3 days if not more on property and not go to the parks.

My in-laws have done this on more than one occasion. They will stay at the GF and relax and eat and shop while the rest of the family hits the park. They have season passes so it's not like they wasted the days. It also depends on the weather how often they make it to the parks.

In the past 5 years, we had 3 trips(including the last 2) never stepping foot into a park.:jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: The other 2 years we went to a waterpark and only 2 main parks (MK & AK then MK & DHS) We are DVC...stayed on property and did not step foot in parks. Went to Universal, Seaworld, Aquatica, BG Waterpark( forgetting the name at this moment), Busch Gardens, Kennedy Space Center, zoos, Deep sea fishing, and day trips to National Wildlife refuges and other sanctuaries and many other attractions. There are plenty of other attractions within a few hours drive outside of WDW...Shocking I know! We did enjoy relaxing at pools, DTD, Mini Golf, checking out the hotels and entertainment, renting speedboats, eating at various restaurants, and even rode the monorail (just to torture the kids). We were doing so much other stuff anyway and they have been there soo many times... they really didn't care.
I have also been on business to the Orlando area 3x in last 2 years(staying at Marriott Village right outside WDW...only time on property was to get some sweets to bring home for kids from DTD.

Yes.. it can be done folks!:D

That being said... we are going to all parks this year. I wanted to go to DLR instead, but was out-voted by wife and kids! :(

We've stayed on Disney property for a few days for 3v3 soccer tournaments and didn't go to the themeparks, but we did go to DTD and Typhoon Lagoon. It was so relaxing.

I have to say I live 90 minutes away from the parks plus a n AP . WDW resort as a whole is a magic bubble to me with maybe the exception of DTD. I like stayiung on a long weekend and I am not in a rush to see everything since I have quick access and easy access. Espcially since I I shared earlier we pick out a handful of rides and a show. parade or fireworks. Sure I can probably find cheaper room somewhere but to be honest unless it has the word Key in front of it or Beach behind it Im not really interested. Many of those type of resorts do not give deals to residents the way Disney does.

Never, no, absolutely not, really???? Skip the parks?!?!? .....utter madness. Seriously?!?!? Such foolishness!

Btw, no we've never been on WDW property and not visited a park. Has the world gone mad!! :banghead:

Ummm....no......never. However, wouldn't it be nice if each resort had at least one ride? Not sure if each resort would have enough leftover real estate to even make that feasible, but it might be an interesting way to divert the overcrowding situations, and possibly boost cash flow for ye olde mouse?

I also think that specifically themed resorts catering to one movie, character, or ride in particular could be neat. A Haunted Mansion Resort would absolutely rock!

Seriously, I couldn't even consider something like that... Though I could get by with just the MK and EC; I've "unofficially written off" AK and HS until there are big changes to those parks.
