Ever buy Something at home just because it reminds you of WDW?

Nothing at home reminds me of Disney and of course the closest Disney store is over an hour away since they closed the one at my local mall.

I buy boxes of incense sticks that I get from my local asian market. They're not labeled, so I don't know the name of their smell. Their smell just reminds me so much of that burnt machine oil barbecue smell in some rides like Spaceship Earth, Great Movie Ride, and Splash Mountain. I love it! I think I'm addicted to their smell now.

Just the other day, I bought a little sugar spoon and butter spreader set that had little red teapots with white polka dots on the handles. Didn't need them in the least, but they reminded me of Minnie, so I had to have them!

it seems like this happens to a lot of us looking at the posts. I mean we make one mistake, we accidentally lure one kid into our unmarked white van and suddenly the whole mall lists us as "dangers" am I right? fine of that's the way the mall wants it we can take our buisness and we can get our puppies, candy and chlorophorm somewhere else right gang!..... gang? ......

Ummm i guess.. lol

Our Disney store CMs like to follow you around the store- I hate that, so I haven't been in there is a while :(.

Wooooofff!
This thread went off on us DS CM's...! ;)
Have you ever heard the term "Secret Shopper"? o_O It happens every month and we get a "Magic Touch" score based on that that's plastered all over the place regarding that score. It's company policy, so don't get too torqued at the CM's...they're doin' what TWDC STRONGLY suggests they do.
That being said, I have always based my Guest engagement on my initial guest greeting. I can tell, pretty much, right away if the Guest wants to engage or not (Secret Shoppers always want to ;)).
You greet certain Guests, get a "leave me alone" vibe, back off politely and go away. Others will talk your head off for 2 straight hours if you don't excuse yourself.
It's really not that hard, engage and use proper judgement based on that initial engagement.

I have specifically asked (nicely) to be left alone unless I ask for help. I do this anywhere I shop -Bath and Body Works is another stalker store. If I have to ask more than twice, I will leave- there are plenty of stores that will gladly leave me alone and take my money:cool:

My kids bought me Mickey Mouse socks for Mother's Day - very sweet (DD saw them while shopping with me and told DH he had to take her back to that store) - now I tell them my Mickey feet remind me of being at WDW.

Hello!
We used to be able to buy the bath soaps, as found in the resort hotels (the Poly, last time Sep 2011).
They were round, with a Mickey face. We were able to buy them online for years(can't remember the site, but they sold resort room products - lamps, etc.) They stopped carrying the soap last year.
Forget Calgon - THAT soap would "take you away" to the World!
Cheers,
Bill

you still can buy all the soaps from the resorts, and the towels, and the sheets, and if you get a new mortgage even a nice pillow.

oh man totally forgot about Geir, the men's cologne in Norway, used to only have it in the parks but then I realized amazon had it too after awhile.

Thanks for the reply!
We paid $2 per soap, but they kept getting smaller and smaller. Definitely don't need another mortgage!!

We're obviously on the same page then. I do not like being "stalked" when I shop either. Come into my Disney Store when I'm on shift and you will definitely NOT be stalked by me. Upon initial greeting, if you tell me "I'll let you know." you'll not hear from me again unless you come up to me and ask a question or I'm processing your transaction at the Box Office (cash wrap).
Now, on the other end of the spectrum, like I related before, some Guests come in SPECIFICALLY to engage us in conversation about a recent Disney trip, a Disney memory, etc. During my shift yesterday is a good example. One of the managers was at the Box Office with a Guest for an extended period of time. She was showing her picture after picture on her phone, going on about her family, etc. I could tell she needed a polite way to break off, so I got on the walkie and said that I needed her at the Minnie Fixture. Problem solved.
The Disney Store is quite the interesting, if not sometimes crazy, place to work actually. :)

Everytime I have a nice glass of Earl Grey iced tea I think of the Rose and Crown. The first sip is :). The next sip is :D. The third sip is find a hammock in the shade lazy time.
Love it, MOXOMUND!
The Rose and Crown is a great place for the memory!
We made friends with one of the servers, and we have had visits to her home in England, and she has visited us.
Its what WDW is......! Great past AND future memories!
Cheers!

we generally make Mickey shaped food for breakfast every weekend. My wife make my daughter mickey shaped biscuits. We also have a cook bok we use. Plus many other things. The best smelling is her laila perfume she wears....lol
