Um...you're not allowed to start planning new trips when I still haven't even seen the pictures from your last one yet. :p
LOL, I finally have a day off today, so I'll put some up RIGHT NOW, Pan-man. ;)

Since my favortie time in the parks is at night, I'm all for this. Even if the wait times are fairly long. I am not a morning person at all, especially on vacation.

Maybe, just maybe, one day I'll get to walk around the Animal Kingdom at night. I would love to be able to watch and walk around the Tree of Life at night. So hopefully once Everest opens they might extend this program to the AK.

Well I usually only get to go in the Summer, so I don't know if the same times will apply then. Hopefully the program will still be in effect then.

:animwink: While the parks are pretty at night....This kind of sucks for us marathon park goers who have to go during vacation weeks. It's torture trying to sleep knowing there is a park still open, but how are we going to be able to keep going all those extra hours! My hubby already complains that the trips are too intense as it is...:)

So anyone heard any more about this? Like, is it definite? So far, the only place I've seen it mentioned is MousePlanet (besides message boards like this that reference MP as a source). I'm dying to know what days which parks will be - the schedule I saw from the testing last May was a big jumble of morning/night EMH's, and this is definately going to affect my PS's and other plans for my trip in Jan.

it'll be interesting to see if they keep a schedule similar to what we saw in May, or if they will drop the morning extra magic hours altogether--I wouldn't really miss them; after being in the parks until midnight, I was in no mood to wake up at 6:30 am the next morning to be at the parks by 8!

aw that's awesome that they do that! It's times like this that I really wish I stayed at a Disney Resort. My family has a timeshare at Orange Lake, so we stay there every time we go. I'm obsessed with the Polynesian though....someday when I have kids I want to take them there to stay.

By all means...Stay at The Polynesian...you won't regret it.
After staying off property twice and then staying ON property,we have decided that we'll never stay off property again.

Gotta warn ya though..once you stay ON property..you're hooked. :animwink:

I am super excited about this. Being able to hang out later in the parks in the evening will be great. Especially excited about Animal Kingdom being open late. Sure to have a great vibe at night.

My family is going to Disney World from March 27 to April 3, do you think the extra hours thing will be offered then? In Birnabaum's (sp?) they said Spring Break time was really busy and I'm pretty sure MK is open until 11. Will they keep the park open until 2 in the morning?

Yeah, that's how I felt on my week-long trip in October. I went to three MNSSHP's (only intended to do two, but the third one on a Tuesday was so dead I had to), and although I'm used to not getting a great deal of sleep at home there was no way I could make it to an EMH all week. I really tried - but sleep won over.

I'm so much more excited about THREE extra hours in the parks, especially the AK and MGM. Although I know on a few other boards I've read a few complaints from people who prefer morning hours, but to be honest on vacation I think most people are going to be much more pleased with staying up late than getting up at the crack of Disney-dawn to be at a park by 8am. Plus, 3 < 1. The benefit just got three-times better (at least on days they do night hours), not to mention a schedule that is now more attuned to my sleep habits. ;)

I just really wish Disney could work it so that those Guests who frequently visit during the holiday and peak times and pay top dollar (with or w/o AP rates), could take advantage of the new program.

It does not make sense to have those that vacation during slow times of year, paying lower Resort prices, to be able to stay in parks later when the parks to begin with are not crowded during the day.

Holiday/peak travelers face crowds all day and night till midnight. And Extra Morning Magic Hour is sometimes for everyone, not just reserved exclusively for Disney Resort Guests. When attendance is projected to be huge, Resort IDs are not checked and everyone is admitted into the parks at the same time, Grand Floridian and All Stars meshed with Best Westerns and Motel 6s all entering en masse running to Space Mtn.

Therefore, Disney Resort Guests do not get a benefit of extra time in the park with only other Resort guests to enjoy the benefits of shorter lines and less crowds.

And I think it should change. Either close the parks at 10pm and have Resort Guests usage till 1am or so (they already clear the park and allow re-entry with wristbands for the hard tix events) or grant Resort Guests the promise of exclusive Park use in the mornings from 8-10am. And abide by those rules.

We would never leave a Disney Resort to stay off-site based on convenience, location, and theme. Not that I am condoning Universal's methodologies of Express Pass, but they at least have a program to make it quite worthwhile to stay on property and visit their theme parks. Disney does not yet, for those of us that travel when school is out.

This is tremendous news! We were there in May when they were trying it out and it was great! I wonder if they will already be doing this during our trip from Jan. 3 to the 7th?

Duh! I answered my own question by actually reading the comments on Mouseplanet (they say the program will begin on the 9th.) Still cool news, especially if it really is permanent. Please, anyone who will be there after the 9th, take advantage of this. When we went in May we thought it was almost as much fun as the Halloween and Christmas parties.:D

There were certainly some problems w/ Evening EMH in May that I'm sure Disney will solve when they return this program. I think, for example, they should have wristbands available at a couple locations throughout the parks all day for Resort guests (have them available at all 4 parks to promote park hopping while reminding guests which park has the evening offering that night). I honestly do not see how they can keep parks open till 2 am four nights each week during peak seasons, so I would imagine they will just revert back to only the early hours at this time. They just need to check everyone for wristbands at every ride entrance and guests will get the idea.

Good News!!!!! :sohappy:

I hope it stays around a while (we are going Feb 25 to March 4th). I like going to WDW in winter better then summer, but I am always disapointed in the park hours for the night. IMO MK should be open later, it is so magical a night. Most of my winter trips Epoct is the only park still open after 8:00 pm most weekday nights. Since we have kids we most likey won't be out very late, but having a park to go to until 10 or so would be great (kids sleep in strollers!)

bb1124, March 27 to April 3 is Easter week, so chances are the parks will be open late anyway (and busy!)

I agree, yet I remember E-Ride Nights oft extended past midnight (I remember a specific time staying till 130am then being pooped beyond all belief). However, as I said in an earlier post, reverting back to only the early morning hours is only effective when Disney only allows Resort Guests, who are paying for the perk as a benefit, to use the special morning hours regardless of expected attendances and opening the parks to all.

I wasn't aware that they were allowing non-resort guests into the parks for Extra Magic Hours. They have always demanded to see my Key to the World.
