Europa Park

Love having a thread to discuss Europa Park. Had a great time there last summer. Should this be outside the Disney Parks topics in Everything Else?

Granted, when I mouse over Everything Else it mentions Orlando parks, so not sure.

I just felt that pretty much only the DLP forum users would check out this thread though, but wherever it fits!

I think that category is for Orlando parks, but I could be wrong.
The first page has no threads about Orlando parks. And the first one is about Chessington.

In any case, while we await the mods decision, have you been to Europa? Anything you’d like to share if so?
No, not been. I’m not a theme park person really, never even been to Alton Towers.

I like the Disney parks. Last time I went to Universal I rode ET and then went to Diagon Alley & Hogsmeade. I love the theming more than the rides.

Europa Park is fantastic. We are on the West coast and Disneyland is our home park, yet the entire family liked Europa Park more than Disneyland. There is a ton to do -- two days if you want to see everything. And it's very creative, doesn't feel corporate. Explore every doorway, go in every buildings, you can discover attractions you wouldn't know were there. Or other cool things it's hard to believe they have or spent money on.

I can recommend the Fjord Restaurant, and while there check out the great dining space upstairs.

We stayed in Basel and took the train up the morning which worked fine (we only did one day but wished we had booked two). But there are places to stay that are closer.

Have fun if you go!

You’d love it if you enjoy Disney and Universal.

It’s honestly the best single gate park in the world IMO.

I adore Europa. Felt like a better EPCOT in many ways.

Totally concur on the lacking a corporate feel, it’s SO refreshing.

And they just keep expanding seemingly endlessly.

I stayed at the Spanish hotel I think? Got a good deal, it was spectacular.

Have fun if you go!
Been once,if I find myself in Germany again I’m definitely going back for a day!

Got any favorite rides or areas?

To me Vultron and the Eurosat Can Can Coaster are legitimately world class.

I really loved the Greece, Spanish, and French areas. Made me totally convinced a Greece Pavilion with a Hercules ride needs to come to EPCOT before anything else.

Did you get a Bible in the Norwegian church?😂

My favorite area was Switzerland. All that real wood!

And the realistic gutters in the walkways like you see in European villages...you just wouldn't see that at a corporate theme park:

And so much hidden stuff to discover. There's a real surprise at the back of a random gift shop I won't spoil, but this one also blew us away. We saw people going down these stairs...where were they going? A dark ride entirely underground, under the land!

And the way attractions were layered on top of one another and intertwined like Disneyland at its best! Here's a flume, coaster, and exploration trail in Austria:

And just overall, the park is so charming and picturesque. Again, if you love that about Disneyland, you'll love it here too:

And I agree about the Can Can Coaster, awesome! I see people complaining about indoor coasters but look at what they did: a fantastic, fun, creative coaster NOT in a big blue box. Yes it's a rip-off of the Epcot Spaceship Earth, and there are other "rip offs" of Disney in the park, but don't let that be the dominant perception. Hopefully that will fade in the years ahead as Europa Park is very much it's own thing with much to love.

But, no, I didn't get a Bible but I love those kind of quirky unexpected cultural things!
