Euro Style License Plate

I saw a BMW yesterday that had Euro style plates on it, no US plates. But what was odd was that on the left hand side, where the country emblem was, it said USA. No state mentioned that I saw. It did have a German-style logo on there as well (didn't get to read it close enough), but where did they get this? Even on the cars I have seen up here with Euro plates, they have had some kind of tag or sticker for the US registry.

It's a US Forces-Germany plate... US servicemen in germany are issued European style plates for driving off base. You saw someone who was stationed in Germany and hasn't yet registered their car back in the US. While the plates look german, they are not.

I didn't think they were European - something about them. I was with my brother and he thought they were those fake ones that you can buy online. He had his car for sale anyway.

Thanks!

It's quite alright. I see those plates more regularly now with US servicemen stationed in Germany coming home. I also see real Euro plates (mostly brits, but ocassional REAL german and dutch plates) on my trips to/from Jacksonville.
