Never let a man named Ashley take a PK.
LOL can't argue with that Although the first one was at least hit hard and was unlucky to hit the cross bar. The second was a poor penalty.

Did you see Pirlo's quotes after the game? Saying he took his PK like he did, because he wanted to get in the heads of the English players? Brilliant stuff. Though, not for me, as I was pulling for the Three Lions.
Well he would have looked a complete idiot if our goalie has just stood there and caught it. Nothing I hate more than those cocky penalties. If it works, everyone thinks it is amazing. When it goes horribly wrong, it is a whole different story.

You couldn't be more right, it is the ultimate all or nothing attempt. Wether it had any impact on the Ashleys' is up for debate. England lost that game long before the PKs though. Leaving Young on, and keeping OX on the bench was my biggest beef. Using Henderson as the 3rd sub, stunning. And Scott Parker probably should have come off at the half. I am getting myself aggravated all over again.

Dull end to a very disappointing tournament. I wasn't happy to see England go out, but I also didn't get to see any real quality from the rest of the field. The International games play second fiddle to the club games, and I think it is really starting to show. The English and Spanish domestic leagues, along with Champions League are now the cream of the crop for me.
