I booked a WDW vacation a few months ago, and just found out that ESPN The Weekend is going on while I am their. I listen to Mike & Mike In The Morning everyday. Their show is so cool. I wanted to try & go to the show, while at Disney. Any tips as to how to get in, as seating will most likely be limited? Any advance tickets needed? Also I am a huge NYY fan & understand CC & Joba will be making appearances. Where is best place to have chance to meet (get autographs) as some events will be at ESPN WWS & some at HS? Thanks allot for any advice!!!!

I believe Mike and Mike are on the Sorcerer hat stage, which makes it very easy to see. You just get onto Hollywood Blvd and head to the stage, no seating issues or capacity problems.

I have photos, a map, and schedule from last year if that helps any

Not true. Most of the TV broadcasts are on the Sorcerer Hat stage, but radio broadcasts like Mike & Mike aren't.

This year Mike & Mike will be broadcasting from the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (in past years it was at ESPN Club at the Boardwalk). I don't know the easiest way to get into the show, but I would listen to the show in the weeks leading up to The Weekend, as I know they've had some promotions for tickets. If that doesn't work, call the ESPN Radio offices or Disney Guest Services right before the Weekend and ask them about ways to get in.

In terms of seeing athletes, they usually show up at different events at DHS. When you get to the park at the beginning of The Weekend, get an official event guide and see when your favorites might be in the celebrity motorcades, TV broadcasts, or competitions.

I will warn you that it is tough to get autographs. The best opportunities you would have would be after competitions like Dream Job or Stump the Schwab if your athlete is a judge or competitor. Also, baseball players are usually around for only one or two days of events. Their schedules are the tightest as they have to get back to Spring Training after making their appearances.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm an ESPN The Weekend veteran and would be more than willing to help you out.

In the meantime, check out the official website for the best information.

To get tickets for the Mike & Mike show, you will need to call a phone number that they will announce on air (2/1 is when I heard) and leave a message which they will give you details about. You will get a call back to confirm. Not sure what the facility @ Wide World is like as I've only been to ESPN Club on the Boardwalk for their show. It's a lot of fun and a great place for autographs. I'm shootin for Thurs. show. Good luck!

ESPN The Weekend

I have been a few times to ESPN The Weekend and will be going this year (Thurs-Sun) with a few father-son friends... I have worked inside the sports and entertainement industry for 20 years and i can tell you that this is as close to any major sporting event you will find that is on the level of the NFL Super Bowl Fan Experience, NCAA HoopCity, NBA Weekend from a fans perspective. The access we have is just being a part of the event and the number of activities that are included in one ticket...all combined together along with being at WDW, IMO it doesnt get any better!

It's all about the sports experience not about the unlimited access to athletes for autographs. Which if you are staying on property you WILL run into the ESPN talent and athletes. They are at the resturants at night and very approachable. We ran into so many of the ESPN talent and retired athletes just by being on property and at the events just wandering around like us. Very relaxed, extremly organized event. This is as close to gaining access to sports celbrities as most of us will get and as close to any major sports event as you will find without requiring a $1,000 ticket to the game or VIP party.

Also besides the live Sports Center broadcast at the studio stage, Q&A, Radio broadcast at the sports complex be sure to go to the ESPN inteactive area behind rockin rollar coaster. All the leagues have activities which are lots of fun and this is where we ran into the most athletes just walking around with thier families and participating with the fans. They also have street performers who dress up as wacky cheerleaders, xtreme fans and marching band members. They are hilarious and got some of my best photo's with these guys/gals. lots of energy in this area and my son and I always have a great time in this area...lots to do.

I guess the best way to sum it up, if you are going only for the autographs not worth it go to a card show, you have a better chance of getting a photo with an athlete/tv talent than an autograph if that makes sense? Its all about a unique experience which celebrates sports, athletes, coaches, leagues and the ESPN talent then getting autographs. This is a special event that is a sure not to miss event if you are a sports fan.

My friends and I use this annual trip as a father son/daughter bonding sports experience rather than a golf trip each year, we will do that when the kids go off to college. It's that first big time game experince plus with dad all wrapped into a tremndous weekend!

Go with all that in mind and you will have a blast!
