So some of you know I recently audiitoned for the CP for character performer and have been placed in the character pool. However, there is an equity dancer audition this weekend that I maybe going to. I am really nervous about this one, much more than the CP, which is where the "maybe's from.

Anywho, I was just wondering if there is anyone who actually attended an equity audition before and if you could tell me how the whole thing went.

Thanks in advance.

There are lots of different types of Actor's Equity auditions. Which one are you going for?

prepare a 1 minute comic monologue :)

Possibly, be prepared to play improv games.
MKT said it best. I used the classic "Backyard BBQ" monologue. MKT spends so much time at the AD Club, he could tell you exactly what you need to do. (Yes, I know who you are, but you don't know me... muhahaha...)

Also, because I've been to that audition a handful of times, and I performed in that capacity at Universal, whose actor auditions are extremely similar :)

Now I gotta know who you are.. this bothers me.. lol. Someone knows me, but I don't know them.

You know my DW, she managed Ad Club for 3 years and just left this past October to a new role. That's a clue. And I've met you before after-hours talking with Carl if that helps...

I think I know who you are, but not 100% sure yet. Anywho, I'll be at the club for a few hours tonight. Perhaps I'll remember then.. lol.

I'm trying to convince Isabel to come out tonight or tomorrow night. She hasn't been back since she left the club.

Nothing against your character audition, but if you are a good dancer, how come you're in the pool? Did they say it's because of your height or anything? I'm just saying because usually really good dancers they will take no problem.

Probably due to her height...cause Disney never has any room due to their CP's taking all the hours..I met like 4 people from disney, that we're at Universal's auditions, cause they aren't getting any hours due to the CP's at Disney. How sad is that?

You might as well go to the audition. It can't hurt. If you don't get offered a role then you will know better what to expect for your next audition. Besides, taking risks is a huge component to being successful.

Good luck!

DONT LISTEN TO THIS THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR DANCING ABILITY I'M SURE! When a position is not avaliable, odviously you have to be put in the pool!

you can go to the audtion and try hard. let them see you know your name and such. but I haven't heard of a instance yet where equity has taken on an intern.

don't shout.

And Disney does play the favourites game when they see an amazing dancer... such as when an attractive 5'5" girl who can dance very well is cast into the character department...

...even though she can only do Mr. Smee, Atta, and Fairies... Rebecca Cunningham if she's lucky. And then gets cast into F! face

During the holidays, they'll take seasonal help, but not an intern. You won't get housing, but you'll get paid well enough that you should be able to room with another performer and still come out ahead financially.

Hell, I know of a few character performers who are equity/AFM subs and regularly get cast in Holiday Equity/AFM roles.

this sounds harsh, but she's just being honest. i'm not trying to say I'm the worlds best dancer- please don't take it like that, but I'm a dead height 5'5" and they fudged my height and pulled me anyways because they wanted to use me as a dancer...... this doesn't mean that you're not a good dancer, i'm sure that sometimes that depends on the people auditioning you as to whether they'll "bend" things or not.... but that's just my two cents....

and no, you can't do equity if you're a CP intern

i wouldn't let that discourage you from going to an equity audition though- i mean, you have nothing to lose and if anything, going to an audition is like having a free mini master class :-) good luck with whatever you decide to do though- make sure you do what you want and don't let our opinions stop you- we're just here to inform!

I have a couple of questions for kcw - are you a disney equity dancer or did you do the college program? and if you did do the college program what types of roles did you perform? or if you're are equity what shows are you in?
