Epic Mickey sequel to be multi-platform

Well that will be nice. I gave up on Epic Mickey after only a few days. I found the controls to be infuriating and Wii's crappy processing of the graphics made it impossible to see what was going on. So many times I would get stuck because the screen was so black that I couldn't tell if I was coming or going. No amount of adjusting the settings on my TV could fix it either. I have a recently acquired Xbox 360 that I am enjoying quite a bit. I would love to give an Epic Mickey type game another try. I've become totally addicted to Disney Universe (which looks 100x better on Xbox than it did on Wii) too.

I had similar results. There is no way to get around it, the Wii stinks at anything past a party game platform. The 360 and PS3 are much more complete gaming systems. I am wondering if they will try to integrate kinect and/or move or just ditch motion controls entirely.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that got stuck on Epic Mickey! Played it hardcore for about 3 days and then felt like my brain was going to explode just from trying to figure out what was happening/had just happened. :hammer:

Yay!!!! A sequel, and one I can play on Playstation 3 (thank goodness...I too had issues with the Wii version, much as I liked the game overall)...and I get to control Oswald! Woo hoo! Can't wait to see the designs and find out what the storyline will be. Thanks for this great news! :sohappy:

Great news! I keep trying to like the original but those camera angles make it really hard for me to want to play. I've only played a few hours total. :(

My hope is that they ditch the motion control. The Xbox and PS3 controllers have plenty of buttons they can use to make Mickey/Oswald move in every possible direction. When the Wii first came out I thought the motion stuff was so cool. It got old and frustrating very fast. I have a Kinect now and while it is a million times better than Wii, it still has some frustrating aspects. Maybe I am old fashioned but I like knowing that when I hit a certain button something will definitely happen. Besides, button mashing is way less weird looking than standing in your living room flailing around.

There is no question that the Kinect is a vast improvement over the Wii but it does have its limitations. They had voice commands available for Halo CE which would have been great, if they would have worked. I would have loved to be able to say "reload" but when you have to say it more than once it becomes pointless. I am however looking forward to Star Wars for Kinect quite a bit.

I too found the Epic Mickey frustrating and am an avid gamer. I play it for short periods of time to enjoy the artistry of the game.

I did find that there is a Camera reset option (it's in the book, but I forget the button) that helps when you get in weird camera angles.

I found Kinect Disneyland frustrating when 2 9 year olds are attempting to run through the park together.. and they go different ways. :brick:

Epic Mickey was bad because of terrible programming and shoddy playtesting, not the limitations of the Wii. Super Mario Galaxy is proof positive that the Wii is more than capable of pulling off a good 3D platformer. Unless they make significant changes to the level design, controls, camera, and, heck, everything else, a simple port to the XBox isn't going to fix much.

I had to force myself to finish my playthrough, and I can't remember a time I've cursed out loud so much.

It's kind of remarkable that a game made last year could get so many things wrong that a game like Banjo Kazooie, made over a decade ago, got right.

The camera alone is a good enough reason never to play Epic Mickey.
If you haven't played it, just do yourself a favor and watch the cutscenes on Youtube.

Have you played dark souls? You know you are in for a treat when the description on the game box says prepare to die.

This is very good news, I hope they do integrate kinect but also give the option to play without.
