Expecting less earth focus, more an extended Disney advertisement.
I don’t mind if it’s IP but make it make sense in the context of world showcase. If harmonious’ soundtrack was used for a world of color replacement I don’t think as many people would hate it, it’s just not the right feeling for world showcase.

I get most complaints about Harmonious that make sense but the "it doesn't feel like world showcase" one I will never understand. The soundtrack is Disney's catalogue of international music. A little lazy sure but the only park this would realistically fit in (literally and figuratively) IS Epcot.

It’s hard for me to explain, maybe it needed more instrumental bits, maybe it needed to be more toned down, world showcase has a special feel at night, a certain mood, and harmonious felt like a rock concert, it’s overwhelming, it’s loud, it’s constantly trying to outdo itself. It also does nothing to incorporate the pavilions into the show. I was really looking forward to this and how it could connect all the countries through music, and it falls flat. I’m not against IP, but I feel the people working on the show know nothing about the park it was placed in.

How about this? In terms of the music, the selections never point beyond Disney to aspects of humanity that would resonate beyond the films (this was the strength of Reflections of Earth). The song sequence is entirely self-referential (pointing only back to Disney) which works against the ethos of World Showcase. World Showcase asks guests to imagine frontiers and cultures beyond that which are familiar. Harmonious is only a jukebox (a lovely one at times) that doesn't move beyond the familiar and therefore seems out of step with the identity of World Showcase itself.

I don’t ask Mr. Unscrupulous what they are doing in WDW. Although credit were due, his staff are better at tracking new merch than Steve is. If you want to know which shirts are on offer this week, Mr. Unscrupulous is your man.

Literally the worst condemnation of Harm to come from executives (including Chapek) is how awful the lagoon looks during the day. It’s surprising given that they approved this decision in the first place, but apparently they didn’t realize how bad it would be.

Fixing that issue is a directive they’ve given the team working on Harm’s replacement.
I hope its a different team all together than the harmonious team

I fear the worst. More non-EPCOT commercialism seems inevitable. The fool in me continues to hope for a refurbishment of Illuminations. Just update it! Use the tacos and stargate if you have to. If Disney insists on an IP infusion, showcase World Celebration, World Nature, World Discovery at the end in a post-Illumination postscript or second act with a little new EPCOT-centric action...maybe a little Cosmic Rewind, a little Imagination,...use it as a vehicle to sell us on the new vision for future world. It doesn't have to be either-or. Just give us the story telling of Illumination and keep the commercialism to pure EPCOT, even New EPCOT if needed.

Imagine how much better this would have been if it stuck to Epcot countries, ditch Moana/Hercules and Jungle Book, half the PatF section, kill the BatB section, add a Pinocchio (Italy,) Rapunzel (Germany,) Brother Bear (Canada,) and yes Frozen (Norway) light up the correct pavilion during that segment to hammer it home, and do something for Japan too. That would have made it more Epcot.

That’s what I was hoping for

The concept they’ve gone with is an improvement. I loved RoE so we will see how it compares to that but RoE wasn’t universally-loved.

I presume all will like the new show more than Harm and EF at the very least. Some things are unknowable though. I have to hear the score.

When do you think Disney will release more info or concept art? Soon?

Should we expect the same barge setup? Or something different? Would be awesome if they expanded the barges/fountains more than just the center of WS Lagoon.

Honestly I don't even think they'll mention it until next year. Most info we'll get between now and like January maybe is leaks and tidbits of information from this board or Twitter. We can have fun speculating tho

This news seriously blows my mind.

I'm not shocked that Harmonious died. What shocks me is how "fast" the show died.

Something about this whole new thing just seems weird. "If" this new show "really" has a 2023 debut,...how in the Hell are they going to do this new show that fast?

If they keep the existing equipment, then OK. That is perfectly plausible. If they dont keep this hardware?....we either get a new show with fireworks, lasers and drones and nothing else in the lake. Or, we do get some kind of display/projection imagery in the lake but it doesn't come until 2024. I just can't see Disney building some new significant display hardware and having it 100% ready between April - December 2023.

Is it realistic to think that Disney is building some big, grand display system completely off-site right now and will truck it into Epcot and crane it into place next summer? I dunno,..if I was forced to bet my life one way or the other, I'd bet that this show wont be ready in 2023...unless it's just fireworks, lasers and drones and kites and jet skis. Could they even install water screens, pumps and projectors that fast?

It's taken 5 years for Disney to build Tron, a ride that was already developed and built years ago. Universal is able to build an entire new park in that roughly that same time. Disney's speed at developing and constructing projects has slowed WAY down over the past 15 years. They can't blame the pandemic as Universal has to deal with that too,...yet they still get their projects up fast. (both Harry potter lands were built very fast too)

I dunno,....this "2023" thing just doesn't seem right to me. How often has Disney missed expected opening dates for attractions at Epcot in the past? Test Track was like 1.5 years behind schedule, that's the first that comes to mind.

(Hopefully I'm really wrong)
