Photos of People Getting Happily Drunk in Disney World - http://www.vice.com/read/disneys-food-and-wine-fetival

Every fall since 1995, Disney World has been home to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. This year, from August 31 to mid-November, guests could stop at 40 different kiosks, each representing a different country. There were culinary demonstrations, a "beverage bootcamp," cheese seminars, daily outdoor concerts, and a lot of people with homemade T-shirts that combined a love of drinking with a love of Disney.

Though there wasn't all that much actual debauchery—maybe thanks to a curfew of 9 PM for most nights and 10:30 PM for special events—a lot of people, many of them foreign tourists, were wearing their enthusiasm for alcohol literally on their sleeves. Maybe this was thanks to Disney's fans well-known penchant for matching outfits, or maybe it was just the prospect of getting buzzed in an amusement park without having to hide your flask from security guards—whatever the reason, it was undeniably charming, and we're glad photographer Samantha Friend was on hand to capture it.

LOL. This hit my news feed. I have never attended Food & Wine but everyone in the pictures look so happy and like they are having a great time. And, all of their T-shirts are hilarious, too.

This is probably why Disney had to expand the dates for Food & Wine.

I kept expecting to see something new in this article. Still searching. AFAIK, F&W has been considered a hit since its first season. And drinking around the world has probably been going on a lot longer. As for the pictures, sure everyone is smiling and having a great time. The photographer likely decided the ones puking in the bushes weren't very photogenic.

Or they extended it to make up for the declining attendance and guest spending brought about by a decade plus of neglect. One or the other.
Hi @sshindel! Yeah okay. That, too.

But remember, it's going to take some time for Disney to correct their past mistakes. And, they are trying.

Did you see my GOTG Flying Coaster thread? It's so exciting. Disney has filed a new state of the art patent for a flying coaster in Epcot and they are even testing it over in Europe somewhere.

I think it was Chapek, who announced that billions of dollars will be invested in Epcot soon. So, you can't give up on Epcot now.

Maybe, I need to go and read that brilliant Epcot Manifesto to stay grounded or something. LOL.

Marty tasked Imagineer Peggie Fariss with convening an unprecedented series of conferences to explore some of the most important topics of the day—among them, energy (this was shortly after the 1973 oil crisis), food production, communications, oceanography, transportation, and global affairs. Held in Florida beginning in 1975, they became known as the Epcot Forums, and one of the first people Peggie asked to participate was renowned science-fiction author Ray Bradbury. He remembers the Epcot Forums well—especially the humility with which participants approached them.

“We [as a society] didn’t know who we were,” Ray tells Disney twenty-three. “I told them that they should present the history of mankind to people. We needed to rediscover where we came from, and where we would like to be going, so I kept talking about this again and again.”

Other Epcot Forum participants included Melville Bell Grosvenor, former head of National Geographic; oceanographer Robert Ballard; researchers from the University of Arizona; and chief scientists from General Motors.

And then we invited a horde of fat dumb slobs looking to get hammered in a theme park.

S/He who spots the line I myself inserted into that quote wins my EPCOT pre-opening ticket. It might prove a difficult task though!

Hi @The Empress Lilly! Yes, I see what you did there. But, I've seen far worse from you, so this is not that bad. And, I was staring at that sentence for the longest like -- Seriously? I should have kept reading. LOL.

Have you heard about the corduroy pillows? They're also making headlines. ;)
Hi @SteveAZee! OMG. That is so funny. And, it took me a while to get that joke. LOL.

Disney did file the patent but there is no indication of where, or even if they plan to use it. Also, the coaster being tested in Europe has nothing to do with the patent.

Anyone who custom-orders a shirt devoted to how drunk they're going to get in a theme park needs to get a life. IMO, of course.

I also don't understand the particular appeal of drinking specifically during Food & Wine. I usually have a drink or two when I go to Epcot but it's not like your options are limited on a random Epcot day outside of Food & Wine. The F&W crowds are terrible and I'd much rather not deal with them.

didn't surprise me at all that disney is extending the dates for the festival, considering how popular it is. I just avoid going on the weekends. what a mess that was.
from other comments i've read in the past, i'm glad i never witnessed any flat out drunks from the times that i've gone to it.

Hi @danlb_2000! Oh, wow! So there are two coaster possibilities -- one for Epcot and one elsewhere.

Hi @mf1972! Thanks so much for the update. That's really great to hear. I think I would like to experience Food & Wine just once and not for the wine but to sample all the different food and to experience the more adult like atmosphere. Just once. I go to Disney mostly to bring out my inner child. I can wine and dine at home, lol.

Thanks for the kind words @mf1972. I haven't made up my mind, as yet. So far, I love Christmas the best.

I have visited during late August. But, I'm kind of hesitant with taking a trip in September because of love bugs. Seriously. Maybe, I will look into November.

It takes a litte while to sink in, much like the pillows. :)
LOL. Again.

Not necessarily, just because they have patented something doesn't mean there are current plans to use it.
That's so true. And, I have to make my way back up to your permit thread to see what's going on right now.

I know Disney patents a lot of stuff just as a formality -- with no real intention of ever using it. But, now with all the investment going on, I think there may be a better chance that before.

I think that it's made much easier during F&W and certainly having the food stands there offers far more variety and the chance to try stuff you probably otherwise wouldn't. Also I might be wrong but isn't it against the rules to take alcohol out of the restaurants and walk around with it whereas F&W gives you to opportunity to enjoy your drink whilst walking to another country meaning less 'down time'?
