Was Chapek there for the 35th?
Chapek wasn’t at the ceremony. I was surprised that Josh didn’t go on stage to say something. The ceremony was pretty simple with mostly just Mariachi Cobre and Voices of Liberty. Josh went on stage after the ceremony to take pictures with the small group of original opening day cast members, which included 2 members of Mariachi Cobre, who both worked at Disneyland prior and flew on Mickey Mouse One to tour Epcot before opening.

This single image may be the perfect statement of all time to the creators and fans of Epcot.

They openly mock you.
Every time I see the barges I question why they didn’t just make them without the arm in the middle, that would have made them 10’ wide screen / light platforms (sitting much closer to the water) which would have been so easy to move in and out of the lagoon.

Occasionally floating them out early to use the screens during the day would feel like a special occasion rather than a constant FU.

regarding the merch, awhile back they previewed a special pin set of the World Showcase pavilions that would be available, and or maybe each one could be bought separate? I cant recall, has anyone seen these today?

Yes, those came out. With a canvas to put them on. You can see all the pins on the Disney Pins Blog (but not the map / canvas)

thank you! are they just for today or do you think they will be available awhile?
The note on the sheet implies they won't be reordered. But they aren't limited, so they should be around for a little while. But how long, is always the crap shoot with pins. It seems like many LEs have been lasting a longer time than pre-pandemic. So I would guess these should be around for weeks, but don't hold me to it!

My family went to Epcot the October it opened but not first day.

I was 9. We also went the next year and that's when I rode Horizons.
But unless I'm wrong, my biggest memory from our first time is being amazed that they took a picture of us riding Spaceship Earth. 😂 Was the on ride photo there from the start? Or did I experience that the next year?

Also, we ate at Alfredo's! The next year we ate in France and I had veal medallions. Isn't it bizarre what memories stick?😆

I never said we should celebrate what they are doing. Honest criticism is important. However it sounded like this was more than that.
You should always be as polite and understanding as possible to front line staff, and their managers, and their managers’ managers… to anyone you’re ever likely to meet face-to-face at a theme park. But when you get to the millionaires who are actually making the decisions that are destroying one of the most important cultural institutions in the world, you can say what you like. Strategically, clear, pointed, specific criticism may be best, but even the most effective rhetoric is highly unlikely to inspire a change. So give ‘me a piece of your mind if it makes you feel better. They’ll be fine.

I literally just said to my sister that I should go back and find him and tell him that Imagination needs to be fixed.
So I enter at 9am yesterday with other resort guests. We approach Imagination. No one opts to enter while a forlorn CM is waiting outside for the first guest. Tells you everything you need to know about that ride.
