is it confirmed that nothing is going up?

What is confirmed is that the wand is being taken down because "its time has come", so to speak...meaning it's safe to say that the sphere will be decorated with a whole lot of nothing for a long while to come. If you're asking whether Disney actually came out and said that nothing will ever be put there ever again, then no--that would have been uncharacteristic of them. Disney almost never says "never".

But given the reaction to the wand, I can't imagine they'd mess with SSE anytime in the foreseeable future, at least not with anything as in-your-face out-of-place as the wand was. (Yes, I know that not everyone hated the Thing, but given that the negative reaction was so vocal I think Disney has learned their lesson...there's really no reason they would risk spending money on a new structure that would rile up the fanbase again.)

hmm i believe that they are going to leave SSE the way it was for the first 30 years that it was open, a plain sphere, then add onto it later.

Erm, 17 years (out of the 25 years of the park's existence)...but who's counting.

tearing down a structure and painting a building are two different things. One needs lots of light, the other needs little light. Guess what kind of light a painter either artistic or house needs.

Yea, you don't need much light at all walking around on slippery steel beams 240' in the air while trying to cut the steel and rig it to a crane...

But when you paint the ceiling in your living room, where true danger awaits at every brush stroke, 500 foot candles per square foot is a must...

Lee, Corrus, or Marni, have either of you guys heard about what exactly they are going to do lighting-wise on the newly refurbed SSE. I really hope they go above and beyond and make this baby GLOW. I love the picture that SDAV10495. It would be awesome to have the earth rotating around. I have no idea how they could project that onto the structure but it would look really cool.

Anyway, any info on what Sylvania is doing?

Just saw it at 2:10am, ribbon and "E" appear to be gone from the entrance side as well.

I hear plans right now are to use the opportunity to give SSE a top to bottom scrubbing. It's very much needed.

it's a giant ball sponsored by a company called Siemens...am I the only one who finds this humorous?

Maybe the lettering and stars are coming off and the wand structure will actually be attached to the ball and fashioned into a long tail like appendage? They did apparently close down The Making of Me. Profits exists due to repeat and future customers. Subliminal advertisements are used throughout television spots. AND...All of the reports, signs etc. that I have heard about this rehab all say "coming soon..."!

:D

Whatever could you be referring to...?

In any case, I'd say this Perisphere at least needs a Trylon for that analogy to be apt.
Hey! It took us seven years to convince them to tear down this perisphere's trylon. Don't give 'em any reason to put it back up.

Now if the wand had been 700 feet tall like the trylon was... :lookaroun
