Hi everyone - Got a transportation question here. If we're in Epcot and want to leave in the early afternoon to explore/shop at Downtown Disney, how would we get there? Do we have to return to our resort and then take the bus? Would there be busses from the transportation center if we took the monorail there? Thanks in advance.

Instead of returning to your resort, you could go out through the International Gateway and walk to Beach Club and catch the bus to DTD from there. That's what we did. Much easier than returning to your home resort and then catching the bus to DTD.

You will have to go to another resort and then go from there to DTD. My favorite route is to take the bus to either PORS or POFQ (which ever comes first) and then take the boat to DTD. It is a nice boat ride and your travel time is pretty consistent. Another option is to take the bus to SSR and either take the boat or walk to DTD. One final option if you are in World Showcase is to walk to the Boardwalk and take the bus from there to DTD.

Thanks

Thanks to all of you who answered. I think we'll try that gate opening to take us to the Boardwalk and the beach club. Catch a bus from there and we're done.

Up until 2003 you would have been able to take direct bus service from the parks to DTD...It was a nice idea.....until they found out that people would park at DTD and not pay the parking for the parks..It's sad..

I actually do this almost every trip, I just hop a cab at the bus area and get over there. It might cost like 10 bucks, but it saves A LOT of time. Other then that you are hotel hoping.
