Epcot thought

If Disney is really trying to think of a way to spruce up the nations, why not jump on one of the hottest British shows out there right now and stick Doctor Who in the British area. Thoughts?

There's a lot of Doctor Who merch in the UK store (the one that sells the Beatles stuff)

Wait, think about it.

Right now you can call into the UK phone booths. Why not make them TARDIS booths?

People can go in them, and dial a number which connects them to the party they dialed.

Brilliant I tell you!

Meh, no...adding another theme to the park isn't a great idea, especially since the World Showcase isn't in trouble, it's Futureworld.

While I would not be in to this, it may be a good idea. My sister is so in to this show, if Disney had something Dr. who in the UK I may actually be able to convince her to join us on our next trip. ;)

As much as I LOVE Dr Who I don't know if it really has a place at Disney (kind of like avatar in my opinion but thats another thread). I can appreciate that they have the merchandise since it is a piece of british history but I would personally be against an attraction simply because of space and they have more dire concerns for epcot...like futureworld as engladdg said. Get all the pavilions in Future World back up and running and then we can worry about world showcase.

Better yet, why not do Britains Got Talent! Give American Idol a run for its money! But on this thought, I think they should add another country or maybe a parade of countries?(kind of like Tapestry at Epcot)

They should just take out Epcot and replace it with a Doctor Who park. Nobody likes stuffy old countries anyway :p

or better yet, have a DW themed attraction in Tomorrowland, have a DW World Showcase adventure, a DW Behind the Scenes thing replacing Narnia in MGM and maybe something else for DAK.

like since DW surrounds an alien who can travel anywhere he wants, expand on that by having him show up everywhere.

it's a good idea to me. it gives both franchises exposure.

  1. They would never agree to BBC's demands.
  2. There are other better fits for UK pavilion which backs on to elements of our "true" culture such as inventing the Christmas card - and to fit with the Dickensian period a Christmas Carol attraction - which you don't have to pay anyone money for the use.

I don't see how Doctor Who does not fit into Epcot. Its futuristic and historical as well as space related it fits perfectly into Epcot.

I say England should get a new Victorian area with the House of Parliament, Westminster Abby, A Christmas carol attraction and DW.

It would be pretty easy to write a DW-themed attraction (a trip inside the TARDIS) that could be hosted by The Doctor and could reference all kinds of UK history -- it is a time machine, after all... that way it appeals to Whovians and those Americans who haven't been introduced yet.

Gettin a bit ambitious there. The great thing about WS is they let you experience an entire nation in a small area. It wouldn't be the same if they were all elaborate and large.

Another great thing about World Showcase is that they showcase the countries most influential icons, the Eiffel Tower, Mayan temples, the Canadian Castle (Sorry do not know the name), etc. I was appalled that Disney did not invest in the most influential and world changing times in England. The Victorian age or Industrial Revolution paved the way for our modern world, and I believe that England should be given one of the most impressive WS areas due to the nations impact on our world.
