Hey everybody!

Did anyone notice that epoct smelled like a sewer last Sunday (1/30/05)?

I first noticed the smell when we left the Mexican pavillion around 7PM, and the smell followed us down to Germany, and we also noticed it when we were going to test track before illuminations started. YICK!

Also smelled at front entrance plaza. I work there in parking and was told by those in the know that they had just finished fertilizing all the flower and plant beds.

Speaking of stenches, why do the areas around the drinks machines at TL and BB reek so much? It's almost gag-worthy! Surely they can do something about it!

thats probably because everybody is wet when they get drinks and the collection of water under and around the machines begin to go a little sour. The back of tubs can do that sometimes when you store your shampoo on there and the water collects around and under the bottles. :hurl:

The smell goes on to your hand after you touch them.

I smelled those handles getting into the logs. I try to avoid touching them, or if I do, washing my hands afterwords. God know was kind of mildew an other things grow on the handles.:hurl:

It is funny NTI2002 mentioned the smell of monorails. I have been to WDW about 6 times in the past year and the smell of the monorails to me has seem to grown stronger. To me it smells like a horse stable. Not near as strong but very much there. I always thought they were not changing the air filters on the monorails as much. My family seems to think it is just the smelly bodies it transports has soaked into the fibers of the cars.

Agreed on Splash Mountain. The vehicles always smell like feet fungus or something.
And my wife agrees on the monorails. She says the often smell like being at the zoo.

The "plants were just fertilized" line sounds like something cast members would say to guests that asked what the smell was. More than likely it was a sewerage back up of some kind. Management would not want that being told to guests.

To support this guess I will submit this. While I was interning at WDI I read a memo on a bulletin board about what to say to guests when the animals at AK were doing less than Disneyish behavior. For example, if you say two animals mating and a guest asked what they were doing you are supposed to say that they are playing and not admit what they are really doing. Not unlike what a cast member would of said about the father, the little boy, the hoola hoop and the excited dolphin I saw one day at the Living Seas. But that is a story for another day....

Which beam were you riding? Express, Local, Epcot.

Everytime I have been on, there is the disntinct smell of mildew combined with industrial de-odorizer and carpet cleaner. The fact that they keep the AC blasting seems to sear in the smell all day long.

The smell could also be from Stitch. Who has taken over parts of the monorail system. :lookaroun

I was at Animal Kingdom today and the smell in some spots was horrible. We decided to stop at a bathroom and that's where the smell was coming from. It was so disgusting. I don't know what was going on but I wasn't going near that bathroom.

We noticed a horrible smell that trailed all the way from Mexico to the entrance pavilion about the times you are stating there, around 7pm or so. This was on our trip from 1/21-1/23 (we were at Epcot on 1/22).
