Hello Disney Diners. I would like to know everyones favorite Epcot area
(either park or resorts) restaurant and why. Also feel free to name your favorite dish. I have an ADR at Le Cellier and with all the talk about changes to the menu & price (now a signature) I may be looking for some alternate places in the area. I may possible be solo that night so any recommendations for a comfortable solo experience would be appreciated.
Also I will be staying at CSR for the first time. Any comments on restaurants in that area also welcome.:)

We had dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club on our last trip and both enjoyed our dinner. I had fish and my partner had steak, both were cooked perfectly.

We've also had dinner at Rose & Crown in Epcot, and had a good time there. The bangers and mash are really good, according to my brother and dad. I had the fish and chips, and while I don't remember them being anything amazing, I'm sure they weren't bad either.

Coral Reef was a bit of a letdown on our last visit. Food was ok, but not all that good. A few items came out from the kitchen cold, service was terribly slow and lacking (empty glasses waiting for refills for ages) and the noise in there is high.

Split on our visit to Tutto Italia. I wasn't impressed, but my partner really enjoyed his meal. But I wouldn't oppose a revisit, as we went shortly after the conversion from the previous restaurant, and that was quite awhile ago.

Don't know when you are going, but we have reservations at Via Napoli, Yachtsman and Captains Grille on our upcoming trip in May, so I will be able to add reviews for those at that point.

Enjoy your trip!

My favorite places tend to be restaurants that I do not have at home. We have had excellent meals in Japan, (Teppan Edo), Chefs of France years ago, so that is back on my list, but I tend to avoid traditional Italian restaurants in WDW, not because I don't like them but I am from Ct. and we have lots of really good Italian restaurants. My favorite restaurants tend to be at the resorts and hotels, or DTD.

Heading for the great escape.
Another fan of the Yachtsman, I enjoy San Angel despite the bad reviews some give it, China is adequate, Germany wholesome but not fancy, the beerhall type seating may favour a single traveller. Tepan Edo is our destination this trip, haven't been there since it refitted but I hope it will be good.

I don't know if I have a favorite but there are a couple that we have to go to when we travel to wdw: Biergarten, Le Cellier, and Rose and Crown.

flying fish over at the boardwalk. i've had 3 different entree's there loved the swordfish and scallops, and really liked the snapper. don't they have a counter or chef's table area...i can't remember. either way, we've eaten there 3 times and had great food and service each time.

traveling alone i'd also consider teppan edo if you're the type to talk to the people at your table.

The only great exception we've ever found is the Brown Derby at DHS... now THAT place has truely regained true Signiture Status :). Wonderfull Steaks, Salads, everything.
I'm glad to hear this. We stopped going to BD when the changes occurred in 2005 and this became a Sig. I'll have to rethink this on my next trip.

One of my favorite's is Biergarten because of the good food and the fun atmosphere, but it definitely depends on whether you like German food or not.

Both LC and Bistro de Paris are now Sigs... but I believe we'll still stick to the Resorts :) (an exception - we're hitting LC in November to get first hand Data on their new Signature Status). The only great exception we've ever found is the Brown Derby at DHS... now THAT place has truely regained true Signiture Status :). Wonderfull Steaks, Salads, everything.

Has it? We went in 08 and it wasn't worth the 2 TS points and the only steak entree is a filet.

Americanized German Food.

It is more authentic than what the norway menu is now. Disney has to walk a thin line with being familiar in taste to guests and being true to the culture. The food that is offered in epcot is close to what the Delaware Saengerbund sells during their Oktoberfest.

Its also pretty close to what I had during my 4 1/2 years living there. Though there is obviously little of the regional stuff, and if it was truly authentic there would be more Balkan and Turkish food too. :drevil:

Yachtsman how good??

If I am correct the Yachtsman Steakhouse is inside the Yacht Club. The night I am possibly interested in going Epcot has evening EMH's, and so I
could go to the boat docks at the Yacht Club and take the boat back over to Epcot after eating an early dinner (EMH's are til 12AM). I may be dining
solo that night. Would I be comfortable at Yachtsman. It would be on a
Tuesday night early dinner? How do you compare Yachtsman with Le Cellier (new signature) both atmosphere, food, and expense wise? Would you change from Le Cellier to the Yachtsman?:slurp:

Well if the american food court had "authentic" american food that represented every region, WS would need to be doubled.

Prices are about the same for most items. 8 oz Filet is 41 at le cellier and 40 at the yachtsman; 12 oz ny strip is 42 at both; 16 oz rib eye is 43 at yachtsman (boneless) and 42 at le cellier (bone in).
