I got to see AK at night back in January during EMH - looks great! Just light enough in most places to see, dark enough to be relaxing. Especially if you take a long way out of the park (when I left the park, I came from Tarzan Rocks, past E:E, through Asia, Africa, Discovery Island, and then out though the Oasis) Unfortunately the only pics I got that turned out well were the front entrance/ticket booth at night (the one with the elephant head) and one of E:E - my shot of Tree of Life from E:E just had too much motion in it :(

At night, are there a lot of bugs? Like mosquitos? I seem to get bit by mosquitos every time I'm in that park in the daytime, it worries me about nighttime...

This will depend on the season, but in all my times I have been in the AK after dark, there havnt been anymore bugs than you would find in any of the other parks.

We where in AK the first year it opened and during Xmas break it was open after dark. The sfari at night is one of the best atractions I have ever been on. Sorry to see they stop it at 7:30. With Everest opening it is going to be great park to visit at night. :sohappy:

Thank you! Still not sure if we'll get there this year, we will be having a different year at a much slower speed, and since AK is not our favorite park, I have a feeling we might not get there. But there's always next time, huh? :D

Maybe.... :(

With the way things tend to close and schedules change you never know if you will be able to next year.

If you have a park hopper you could hit the park about the time it closes and enjoy it at night that way. That is what we did in May and still had time to hit all the rides with the exception of Planet Watch.

I thought it was perfect just the right amount of light to fit the atmosphere of the park

That sounds really pretty! I love the photo that some one added of the Tree of Life at night. You know not a lot of lights and flashy stuff works for Animal Kingdom, it is like nature. So Natural lighting with just a little here and there would work and be very pretty!

The safety issues of a waterpark at night would be astronomical. Unfortunately, there is no way that would ever happen. Lifeguards would be almost ineffectual, and that could be highly dangerous. They could look pretty cool, though.

Bit O/T but I thought Wet n Wild is open at night sometimes? How do they do it? I'm not trying to snub you or challenge you, I'm seriously wondering. I think if they wanted to they could open the parks at night.

I think AK is awesome at night! It's so cool to see every path very lightly lit and it feels like your exploring a whole different park. Its great to just stroll and just take in the true beauty of that park. And the Tree of Life is perfectly lit so it shines from all angles! I wanna go back! lol

Animal Kingdom, at night, is by far my favorite of the four parks. As you all know, there is LOTS of foliage at AK. Because the walking areas are lit so dimly, you can't see more than a few feet into the dense areas of foliage. This really heightens the sense of adventure and can actually be kinda creepy. We were walking through an uncrowded area one night and heard all kinds of rustling in the darkness. It was so much fun, a completely different Disney experience. I'm just hoping that I never hear any movement (in the trees) over by everest!

A really old thread, but I just wanted to add a little thought. We did AK EMH in 2005 and were really impressed. At times, AK at night feels kinda similar to walking around, say, the Poly grounds at night. Dimly lit, quiet, relaxing even. The nice thing was that we were actually able to ENJOY the park AND ride a few things. During the day, it's just so crowded and HOT that you don't really get a chance to enjoy the theming and scenery. AK EMH was about the only time at WDW it was actually a pleasure to wait for my wife in the restroom - gave me time to wander a bit and enjoy the nice theming, distant sounds, and relaxing atmosphere. I can't imagine being that relaxed at night in the middle of actual Africa, though!

Don't know about Blizzard Beach, but Typhoon Lagoon is rented out for nighttime parties with most attractions operating.

AK, especially the Tree of Life, I think looks great at night! It is really a very cool effect. The lights probably can't be as bright and flashy as they can other places due to some animal restrictions, but I always liked the evening EHM at AK.

Holllly old thread.

But to add something I don't think anyone else mentioned...lighting around AK is probably a little less and more subdued because of the animals. Its dark, and many animals are turning in for the evening. I imagine its to provide a better environment for them.

The animals are brought in at night for 2 main reasons. The animals safety from crazy people in the middle of the night. Plus, most animals are fed at night so that the diet can be watched. Most physical exams occur then as well.

You've got to be kidding me. This has got to be a first for me. Someone actually resurrected a thread from over two years ago just to take issue with something someone said way back then. Isn't there some sort of statute of limitations on message board posts or something?
