EPCOT Illuminations

A friend of mine travels to WDW in 2 weeks - during a discussion he told me that he has heard of a boat trip on the EPCOT lagoon during the illuminations fireworks. I've never seen it or heard about it. My thoughts are it would be too dangerous and Disney would be leaving themselves wide open for legal action.
Does anyone out there know anything different - or is my friend the subject of a poor joke ?

Morning Captain, Your friends info is absolutely true!!!!I am right now looking in my Birnbaums Guide to Disneyworld for 2002 and they say that you can rent a pontoon boat forabout $120 which includes a driver to run the boat. The ones for the Illuminations depart from the Boardwalk, Yacht, & Beach club resorts. If your friend wants to make reservations have him call 1-407-939-7529 (1-407 wdw-play) and they will take care of the arrangements. I Am not sure how close the boats actually get to the fireworks display but he should ask that. I know I would!! Hope the info helped!

Yes, your friend is correct. It is called an Illumnations Cruse and leaves from either BW or YC. The price is $175 or $120 depending on which type of boat you rent. During the show the boats sit under the bridge between France and Great Britan. It's a fantasic view as long as the wind is not blowing your way. If it is after about 2 min. all you can see is smoke.

Heading for the great escape.
According to legend, this cruise is as difficult to book as Breakfast in the castle. If i casn get through I intend to give it a bang next year.

Please keep in mind that you must book the cruise 90 days out. There are also quite a few "specialty cruises that can be booked as well. I have booked quite a few for clients, and have done most of them myself, just for the experience of doing them. They are quite relaxing.

Good Luck,

Pam

Well thanks for the info - I'll be sure to tell him when I see him on Wednesday. I'll let you know if he manages to book at such relatively short notice. :animwink:

The boat takes you up to bridge that connects UK to France.

Our family hooked up with 4 different couples and shared the cost of the cruise. It was a pretty good time. We were able to see the ToN parade from the Int. gateway bridge before Ill. and then got a pretty cool tour of the lagoon. We then were anchored to the bridge and the wind was in our favor and blew away from us that night. One thing about this cruise is the angle you watch it from. The lasers and some other effects aren't as visible as if you were watching from a better standing location. That being said, we would do it again. Hope this helped you some. Now the parade ToD no longer goes over that bridge so don't be expecting to see that when you go.
