Epcot ideas...

I was just reading an article on screamscape.com about how Disney are thinking about using the money stashed away for the 5th park and pouring it into adding and rehabing Epcot due to its low attendance comapred to the other parks.

I also know that to alot of you on the site Epcot is very dear and is your favourite park and you don't like to have it changed. But if Disney does have all the money to use on Epcot the possibilities are vast and I would like to see a few things.

Two or three rides added to the WSC for example a flume ride with reverser turntables so during periods of the ride you could be traveling backwards and it could be placed in Italy and have a theme tied into Venice. I think the other ride should be a coaster either inverted or bobsleigh style. The latter has already been suggested but it would mean the addition of another country like Switzerland which I don't think would work as WSC is big enough so maybe add in the inverted into Japan as it could have some great themeing then and Japan is pretty empty right now. What about you guys and your ideas?

Well World Showcase needs some rides back there, I agree they should make a switzerland and put a bobsled coaster in there. I also think they should make a Weather Pavillion, and do a big rehab to Living Seas and put an e-ticket there.

It was once mentioned there might be a Matterhorn-like attraction in Japan called Mt. Fuji that never surfaced. Additionally, Italy could perhaps focus on Greek history and create a Gods and Myths attraction featuring (Disney tie-in!) Phil and Hercules. I kind of like the name Phil's Grecian History 101, making it like a class at school.
England could develop something relating to King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table or perhaps a roller-coaster style attraction featuring audio-animatronic dragons attacking the cars.
And for the rest of the countries, why not more attractions like The American Adventure? Why is the US the only one to be allowed to show great and not-so-great moments from its history? This would be perfect for England, France, Japan...any of the countries.
While they're at it, add a few more countries - Egypt (Escape from the Mummy's Tomb!, Raiders of the Lost Ark?), Ireland, Scotland, Russia, etc.
The best ideas for Epcot, however, require a bit of a step backward...so to speak. Bring back the original Journey Into Imagination, put in a new and updated Horizons, and revive World of Motion (killing Test Track and giving it its old home back, preferably). Overall, more audio-animatronics, less cheap thrill.

I'd like to see more in epcot, but i doubt they'd put an inverted coaster in there. Doesn't really fit in with their idea i reckon.

CThaddeus, if you brought back World Of Motion, although I think it is good idea, it was just be stupid to take out Test Track and put it there as the ride is one Epcot's main attractions. If you took it away you would lose all the thrill seekers. This may not sound that bad but if you don't have Test Track they aren't even going to give the park a chance as it doesn't contain any thrills, where as right now they come to ride Test Track and find intresting things like WSC or the other attractions at Epcot and end up becoming a fan of the park increasing its popularity.

(Hello, I'm new here. Yes, I have horrible spelling. It's a curse.)

Anyway, I think Epcot should get Carosel of Progress. It doesn't really fit in where it is at the MK, and Epcot needs a good attraction like this. I'm not sure of the size of it, but I think I even have a good place for it. Get this: between the old Comminicore (Innoventions now, I guess). But, under the ground. To my knowledge, there is a fountain there. Well, under it (give or take, it's been a while since I was there last) is the perfect spot for it.

Also, Epcot needs to re-do Body Wars, or take it out completely, and retrofit it with the Storm attraction from DisneySea. Canada could use a new ride, maybe something to dispel myths about Canada being "boring." I didn't say that. Another thing they could do is add an Animal Pavilion, but I doubt it, due to DAK.

I'm sure they'll think of something else completely diffrent though.

I don't think Epcot is the place for rollercoasters. I think it would really ruin the feel of the park. I think its really sad that SEA WORLD- instead of expanding on what the park concentrates on- just built a coaster to bring in the thrill seekers. I think Epcot needs to expand and act to supplement existing attractions. I don't think WS needs any rides and certainly not for each country. Maybe a Soarin-type attraction like its been rumored but I think a Matterhorn-style addition would be a bad move for WS. Part of the problem- especially with old Future World attractions and ALL old Disney attractions is that the technology becomes dated and we as people have come to expect SO MUCH from technology today that we look at something like Living with the Land (Which I love) and say- wow that was a snoozer, when 10-15 years ago, stuff like that was cutting-edge. If technology was updated I think a few old classics would have new life. The only exceptions of course would be Haunted Mansion, PotC and Peter Pan just to name a few.

I agree, too. I think that even Test Track is maybe a step in the wrong direction. Epcot was never like the other parks, and it really shouldn't start now. They have great ideas, profitable or not, and unfortunatly that's what everyone looks at nowadays. I still think that they need attractions that make people think and learn, not thrill them. That was always the plan.

And as to rollercoasters, I don't think they have the space for that. If there is a new roller coaster at WDW, it'll go into Animal Kingdom, as they lack E-Ticket rides very much. Actually, when you think about it, many of the same ideas that were integral to Epcot went into the other WDW parks. They all have attractions where they teach guests, and I think that's unique to Disney.

And finally, back to Epcot, they ought make one of the Innoventions buildings into some sort of ride, since it's so hard to keep up with the speed of technology, and also, let's face it, it's not exactally bringing in people into the park like another attraction would. Another attraction would give people more of a reason to come back, and more of a reason to spend more time enjoying the park.

I've said enough tonight.

Addendum: Speaking of attractions, when was the last time a Disney park had a ride where it didn't tie into a movie, tv show, band, car manufacturer, or a character? And I'm not including Alien Encounter or Timekeeper because they aren't really rides. (and Journey Into Your Imagination has a character) Look at the Haunted Mansion or Pirates, or even Small World, popular rides in thier own right, and yet they had no tie-ins at the time they opened. I wish they would do more of these kinds of attractions.

Why not Build Meet the World in the Show building that was constructed for it in Japan. Just slightly modify the show, If i remember right, the show in TDL closed. So why not just use that show. And modify it to be american Corect, (The main reason to why it wasn't built was it didn't meantion a certin World War in it any where.)

"Extreme Epcot"

I created a post about what to do with EPCOT over Discussion forum. I think most of the rides, shows and so on, need a new life (maybe a paint job here, or a refurbish of the building, maybe a hole new look, or maybe just a new "pavilion"). I know is hard to think of EPCOT as a Theme park that may never grow old and that may never change, We love that because is what we are used to. When Disney created EPCOT was a learning experience enhanced. come on they even have an area so teachers can gather information and bring it to the students back home.

EPCOT need an overall rehab (not mayor like change Spaceship earth, but please remove that ugly ornament on top / and don't get me wrong i know how hard it was to build and Modify)

They need to focus on the future... Mission Space is an alternative to Horizons, Test Track, well at the moment seems to be a great Idea, just add the basics of the future of transportation like in the World Of Motion...

The Idea to bring the Carusel of Progress to Epcot is a great one hey even put it over the side of Test Track is. The Odessy building that is just been use for a Bathroom (at least last time I was there)

Just a side note...All the pavillions in WS are like big commercials for their respective country...They country pays for everything, Disney just hosts it, this is why not all of them have rides, and this is why Disney won't pay to add new ones, it would upset the other countries...So basically, whichever country puts in more money, gets the ride. The rest get a resteraunt and a shop.

To this end....Disney should put a huge E-ticket ride in the American adventure..Not like a thrill ride or anything, but something amazing, to draw the crowds back to the end of WS...I had always thought a fun Dark ride through all of the old american legends (That were just released on video awhile back) WOuld be nice...But something bigger would be better, any Ideas?

I'm gonna have to disagree with you and say that The American Adventure show is a huge E-ticket attraction. I just don't think the park advertises it very well. I understand your thoughts on putting something a little more fresh in, but I'm a purist.... so.... but I think they do need to get it advertised a little better cuz it is quite an amazing show. I cry at the end everytime, LOL I'm such a baby!

Epcot needs to create more wow rides. Those are not thrill rides. They are like spaceship earth, horizons, living with the land, world of motion. Beautiful ones that make some people cry. Test track is not like this. No amazing details or dioramas there. just plain fun. Please WDW, don't go cheap on us!!!

I agree! They need to go back to the basics. I loved all the rides that told you stuff while making it fun. It just blew you away. I still love riding the Living Seas because every time you see something different. And Living With the Land is great it shows all these neat ways to cultivate food.

I would hardly call TT cheap...

What one describes as a 'wow' ride, another person would call boring. Epcot, as well as all the other parks needs a good balance.

I feel test track is great. I love it, and ride it many times when I go. I have memorized the pre-show. DOn't get me wrong. I am just disappointed when comparing it to the beauty of the other rides I mentioned.
