Epcot Discovery...

I was wandering in the park last week and the music in the innoventions plaza changed to a loud fanfare and a narrator said something like 'ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, please turn your attention towards the innoventions plaza and join us in welcoming our new cast members to the Epcot family'.

Sure enough, a group of new cast members were stood in a circle waving. This is such a cool idea. Speaking to a new cast member afterwards i found out they were on thier 'discovery day' where they learn about the park.

Does anyone have, or know where I can obtain a copy of this recording? It's purely for my WDW sound collection, specifically the 'rare' folder!

Shhhh! It's a secret!

Okay, it looks like the secret's out. Yup, it's a really cool little ceremony. It doesn't happen every day, but when it does it's usually around 10:00-ish (I think...I wasn't paying much attention to the time) and right in the center of the giant Epcot logo between the Fountain of Nations and the walkway to World Showcase.

Discovery Day is kind of like Traditions: Part II. All new Epcot Cast Members go through it (and there are comparable orientations at the other parks and resorts, though I'm not sure of any similar ceremonies). It first covers the history of Epcot, from the time that it was conceived as a city all the way up to present day. Then, there is a walk-through of the park and the opportunity to ride a couple attractions (I went on Spaceship Earth, but I hear that Journey into Imagination is also sometimes used). Finally, there is a ride on one of the FriendShips all the way around World Showcase.

I honestly don't recall "Welcome" being played during the logo ceremony, but I could have just been caught up in the moment.

Each park has it's own day.

Training goes as follows:

Traditions

Park / Resort specific day

Area or department or park / resort 305 days on the job training.

Epcot is the only park to do this announcement, which I think is awesome. But to me it is the weakest park Cast wise.
