Sweeet! It IS very early but I love Christmas, and I love Disney so you combine both and I'm a very giddy happy man. I can't wait to see the decorations. Wonder why though they put them up so early?

Like I was saying I think it is a deliberate decision to not have any lull between F&W and Christmas activities. I thing in a couple years something will be happening at Epcot year round with no downtimes. That is why F&W and F&G get extended every year. I think some new events will be added as time goes on. Just a hunch.

I'm guessing the Christmas loops aren't going to start until the true festivities begin. I'm starting to get sick of the regular loop where I am, so it'll be nice to have the change.

What's a "Christmas loop" and a "regular loop"? Is that CM speak? (if so, it would explain why I have no idea what you are talking about!!) Thanks.

Loop is just the term for the background music in an area. It is the same group of songs "looped" over and over throughout the day.

It's a Tim Burton idea. :lookaroun

Though I am glad that Disney's getting into the spirit already. They probably want to put everything up so early because they have so much to put up in time for the hollidays (when I went earlier in October, I saw about half of the Osborn Lights up).

Still, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party should be ending sometime soon, right?

While everyone says it's "to early" - lets not forget that Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away from this coming Thursday - the 8th.

Since Thanksgiving is "early" this year - they've got to be proactive on getting everything up and going.

We were at the World last year over Nov 11-14 and over night - everything started changing with decorations:xmas:. It was kinda cool to go to bed one night...and wake up the next morning to see most everything all decked out.

But again - Thanksgiving is only 2 1/2 weeks away... With that said - they are right on schedule with everything.

The last MNSSHP was on Friday Nov 2nd...

Season's Greetings :lookaroun

Thanksgiving seems to be a forgotten holiday around these parts.
It's a shame, but it seems like that most places now. I think retailers, and Disney push Christmas more because there are more opportunities to turn a buck promoting Christmas. Kind of sad I think.
You should change your thanksgiving to the first week of October like us in Canada. Why do we celebrate at such different times anyway? does anyone know?
Canada first celebrated their Thanksgiving in 1578. Back in 1957 the Canadian Parliment established the date of the 2nd Monday in October. The United States first celebrated Thanksgiving in 1621. President Washington declared November 26th as a day of celebration. President F.D. Roosevelt set the date of celbration as the 4th Thursday in November in 1939. Congress approved this date in 1941. I',m sure there's some kind of cultural reason for the different dates. The day is intended as a celebration of the bounty the Creator or Supream Being or God (don't want to offend anyone) has given to both countries. Who knows for sure why certain dates are choosen by politians.

It sure seems to be their goal doesn't it. We end one celebration (well not the YoaMD yet) to start another one almost immediately. So I guess they think they can make more money if they have a celebration every day of the year within the annual celebration. It seems to be all about money.

I think you misunderstood. YoaMD is a special promotion as are anniversary celebrations. Food & Wine/Flower & Garden and Christmas at Epcot have become attractions in and of themselves. They are concentrated around World Showcase appropriately. I was trying to make the point that I believe there will eventually be some kind of event happening at WS year round and a big part of that will be Christmas along with other "Festivals". I think this is a way Disney can attract guests year round. Of course it helps profits but if you only see Disney as a money making venture your cynacism will ruin it and you won't notice just how amazing the place is.

I agree completely. I can't quite be upset that the motivation for Christmas decorations being up during my trip is money, when I can only schedule my holiday trip for WDW before Thanksgiving, I'm just glad they're up. Disney is a company, I understand the profit motive, but I try not to let it discredit all of the magic...

On a different note, when can I expect the decorations to come down. We are arriving at WDW on New Year's Day and will be there for a week. Will the decorations still be up in all their glory during this period?

Don't forget too that the first MVMCP is next week, on the 12th I believe which is also earlier than they have had it before.

On a radio note, if you listen to XM Radio, they already have one of their Christmas stations going 24/7 as well, 103.

My trip in 2004 was November 21-29, and we noticed back then that the decorations suddenly went up overnight about halfway through our trip. That was the week of Thanksgiving.
And I noticed them about the same time in 2003.

But that great for me! Next year we are planning to be there during this exact week, and by then it will have been 4 years since I saw Christmas in any form at the world, so I don't mind! :xmas:

:hurl::hurl: It's not even Thanksgiving yet! It's pathetic how stores even had christmas stuff out before Halloween was over. It's ridiculous!

Stores wouldn't be selling it if consumers weren't buying it. I hardly think it's pathetic that they want to make money...

Back on topic (surprisingly, Christmas radio stations and the ethical implications of Capitalism dictating the 'start' of Christmas aren't the topic here...), has anyone seen anything new at any of the parks over the last couple of days? I'd imagine MK would be getting its layover very soon...

No I understood what you meant, I was just stating how I felt about it. Yes the over commerialization of a holiday takes some of the joy out of it for me. That's not cynacism on my part just a statement of what I consider to be a fact. I am not against WDW turning a profit, and all of these little festivals are great, and yes I think it will draw more visitors. However, do you really want construction walls up year round at Epcot like these events bring on. We would go from one festival into the next with the only brief interlude being when WS looked like a construction zone. Yes festivals would be nice if you could come up with a way to maintain the parks beauty. Reguardless of that I am not ready for Halloween in August, and I am not ready for Christmas on November 1st. I am also well aware of what YoaMD is. I just get tired as promotions being presented as celebrations. Celebrating a parks anniversary is a celebration. I just get tired of every year having a different promotion, and trying to turn it into a celebration. These are merely my opinions, if others can be in the mood well in advance of the actual celebration, enjoy the never ending promotion/celebrations, and are not disturbed by the over comercialization that's fine.
