Welcome to EPCOT Center, a custom recreation of the Walt Disney World park from the 1980's by Mickeynerd17 Productions presenting a Minecraft twist to the iconic Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow.

Explore the wonders of the future as envisioned in the 1980's Disney style in this permanent world's fair. The park is divided into two sections, Future World and World Showcase, with the former being about future technologies and the latter about the unique and diverse cultures of our planet. Step into one of mine pavilions in Future World where you'll learn about what the future holds in different themes, ranging from communications to transportation, under the sea and in outer space, and into the farthest reaches of imagination, the possibilities are endless! Come and explore today!

This map has been my personal endeavor since January 2018. Ever since I discovered the past version of the theme park I love most, Epcot, as it looked in 1989 with all the original pavilions, I have always wanted to build my own version to enjoy and modify. Since starting this project in January 2018, I have slowly shaped a flat Minecraft world into the masterpiece you see today. Each pavilion was handcrafted with precision and care over the course of months to reflect their real-life counterparts while displaying a Minecraft flair that lives up to a quality experience any guest would expect. Now, I want to share my hard work with the world, so everyone can experience the EPCOT Center of the past, and enjoy the promise of a bright future!

Thanks for checking out my map, and welcome to the 21st century!

Download it here: https://mcpedl.com/epcot-center-v1/

Here you'll find continuous updates as I continue to shape the future exactly as it looked in real life! You'll see construction walls, buildings gutted, new landscaping, new pavilions, and even demolition. It's already been a 3 year adventure and nothing's going to stop us now!

Here are links to parts of the tribute:

Enjoy!

Communicore Gets an Upgrade

Communicore once again needs an upgrade. After much review I determined that the northeast section wasn't large enough and the famous hallways running through the buildings didn't exist. This update would fix that as well as add the patio for Stargate Restaurant. Centorium was also updated with a new mezzanine level and the FutureChoice theater returns after being absent since Version 2 (for context, I'm on Version 12 now).

The overhaul started with the northeast corner closing mid-April. Exhibits were cleared, Backstage Magic was gutted, and the construction walls wrapped all the way around to the pathway between Energy and Horizons!

The construction stayed in the northeast corner for the rest of the month as new walls, pathways, and more infrastructure were added.

Northeast Continues it's Redo while CENTORIUM Closes.

Northeast Communicore made steady progress, bit since it was the largest part of the overhaul, it would take the longest time to complete.

In the meantime, CENTORIUM closed as southeast began it's refurb. Merchandise from the store would be mostly relocated to Gateway Gifts for the time being. Soon the building was being cleared and windows removed.

Centorium receives changes.

The entire east building is now closed and major changes are definitely showing over the construction walls. Firstly, the centorium is gutted and new walls are installed for Electronic Forum.

Here we see the new walls from the outside:

2021_05_02_12.03.00.jpg
2021_05_02_12.02.39.jpg

Now, here's a comparison photo of how it looked in real life:

It's these details that make this tribute realistic, and we're not stopping there! This is only a small part of the changes being made today!

Just look at the new Centorium:

And compare that to the real deal:

These updates have been happening since V3 when I decided to go from a custom park to a tribute. Since then I've slowly changed the pavilions, landscapes, pathways, and more to reflect the original Center. Stay tuned for more!

A Word on Vents

The communicore vents are a unique feature to these two structures that don't really get talked about. They're these round things with slots cut out that sit on the roof out of guest view. Guests back in the 80's and early 90's could see them atop Communicore West back when World of Motion was operating, but those days are long gone. They were even themed to match the buildings. These vents have been missing from my tribute as an extra detail I didn't really bother to think about, but now they will sit in their proper place on top of Communicore.

Details matter, even for a simple thing as a vent. That's what makes EPCOT Center so unique.

Halfway There!

The Communicore Update is halfway completed now! There has been massive progress since my last post.

Firstly, the northwest section of the building, the last to close, is now under construction. The entire ceiling was removed due to it being slightly too high.

2021_05_10_23.11.04.jpg

It becomes quite obvious how many blocks are needed to keep this building lit up at night. They're all situated in a tight space between the roof and ceiling (they're the whitish-blue blocks)
2021_05_10_22.57.41.jpg

The Teacher's Center was dismantled in favor of a more historically accurate version.

2021_05_10_23.05.03.jpg

Here are some leftover blocks from old Communicore before the smooth blocks existed in the game. This was the outside edge of Communicore (the outside facing the Land) back in Version 6. For context, I'm currently working on Version 12, and Version 6 was released back in 2019.

2021_05_10_23.26.31.jpg

Centorium is finally completed and looks absolutely stunning! Definitely a major improvement over the boring old version.
2021_05_02_12.05.28.jpg

Here's one more look at the Northwest portion of Communicore. Besides Futurecom in the back, this structure looks almost like Innoventions from 2018! (Ok, that was a bad joke, but deserved it.) More will be completed in the coming days.
2021_05_10_23.14.23.jpg

Oh yea, Backstage Magic and the rest of Communicore northeast are STILL being worked on because I can't seem to stay focused on that section even though its a breath away from completion. Maybe I'll actually come back to it after Northwest. 🤣

:brb: with more updates soon!

Communicore: An Evolution Over Time (Part 1)

I may be showing extensive updates to what was already a spectacular interpretation of Communicore, but all of this was years in the making.

Don't believe me? Well, lets travel back in time together and I'll show you the Communicore's of the past so you'll appreciate the Communicore of tomorrow even more!

Here's the original version:
20190209_195107_rmscr.jpg

Pretty shocking, isn't it?

The year is 2018. The EPCOT Project had just begun out of a desire to make a custom interpretation of Future World I could enjoy and modify according to my whims. I didn't have any idea where this would lead, but I was pretty elated for completing my second park project.
Communicore was quite simple with four separate buildings instead of two reaching over the main pathway. Going clockwise starting at bottom left, the buildings contained "The Hall of Restone," Centorium, Epcot Polling Center, and Computer Central.

It was extremely simple. I made it this way on purpose in order to speed construction on the park because I wanted to add more detail to other pavilions like World of Motion and The Living Seas.

Oh, and no, the fountain was not designed based off of the Aquasphere at Tokyo Disney SEA. That park wasn't in my mind when that was built, but definitely an interesting coincidence!

Now, lets fast forward a few months:

20190221_092355_rmscr.jpg

Notice anything different?

For starters, the fountain changed to be more kinetically interesting. Each of the buildings were given purple paint to stand out more and be less bland. This first update also marked the first removal of an experience: The Epcot Polling Center, in favor of the first restaurant in Communicore, the first edition of FountainView Cafe.

Not much changed from that point, but things were just getting started...

20190429_095016_rmscr.jpg

Aha! Now things are getting interesting!

It's now early 2019 and Version 3 is released. The original buildings were demolished and replaced with curved buildings connected by a "temporary" roof shelter. There were new additions along with reimagined mainstays. One interesting part of this update was the attempt to maintain the hub shape despite the new Spaceship Earth taking space and the new Communicore ruining the original layout of the hub.

It might seem like a hodge-podge, but there were neat aspects. For example, Centorium was reimagined along with the reintroduction of the Epcot Polling Center (in the grey cube) moving across the hub:
20190201_171447_rmscr.jpg

Communicore would change little for four versions as almost the entirety of Future World was rebuilt.

But, with progress comes eventual change, and Communicore would soon receive its biggest update yet.

And by big, I mean MASSIVE.

Part 2 Coming Soon...

EPCOW!!!! In all seriousness though what made you decide to switch from making your own Future World to a recreation of Epcot Center?
To be fully honest, I think the decision came after finishing Version two, but was implemented over a long period of time. I loved what I had created but saw that it could be so much more, and with my constantly improving building skills I realized over the span of years that I could make the real thing! Its been 10 versions of shaping it into a tribute of the original park instead of a custom one (although it does have some custom elements as of right now), and I won't stop until I'm satisfied, which will probably be after World Showcase is finished.

So, ultimately it was a decision over a long period of time by editing the map in updates to slowly change the pavilions while still having everything open each release!

Communicore is Complete!

After two months of construction, the Communicore Update is finished! Both east and west now match up with their hallways and are the correct size as well as being symmetrical. Come take a look!

First, a look at both building from the air:

Isn't that perfect symmetry just satisfying?

5/18/2021 - 6/16/2021 (Part 1)

It's been a while since I've posted an update to this project, but boy have there been updates! Let's "dive" in!

The final big change to the park for Version 12 is (as you've hopefully guessed) a complete overhaul of The Living Seas! This pavilion hasn't been touched in a year and everything except the ride itself looks extremely dated with old building techniques I no longer use. This update will effectively remove the entire facade (which includes the queue, preshow theaters, Hydrolators, and SeaBase Alpha) with a more realistic, but still custom version with more accurate elements like actual SeaBase modules and an improved entrance mural!

construction started May 18 soon after Communicore was finished with the main entrance walled off, leaving only SeaBase open to the public.

2021_05_16_11.30.32.jpg

Work immediately started on clearing the queue and removing interior structures.

2021_05_16_11.40.57.jpg
2021_05_16_11.43.43.jpg

2021_05_16_11.50.12.jpg

The entire pavilion closed on May 20th to begin total demolition of the front section of the building.

2021_05_16_11.48.33.jpg

At this point, exterior demolition was visible above the construction walls and things started to get messy to say the least.

2021_05_17_20.58.13.jpg
2021_05_17_21.01.52.jpg

While this demolition may seem extreme, I can assure you the final product will be 100% better than what was once there.

Don't believe me? Stick around for Part 2!
