Epcot attendance really that bad?

>>>I've seen the attendance reports for Epcot for the past year, and only a few times did the attendace dip below 9000...<<<

Are you talking about for the entire day or for the morning example that I pointed out? In the off season example I pointed out 4 thousand people plus 8 thousand MORE people did equal 12k for the entire day.

4 counts- 9 AM, 12 noon, 5pm, 9pm

the ONLY time the count was close to 4,000 was 9AM, which is a very innaccurate time to take a count of guests in the park.

The full day count is the only one that should matter, especially since the turnstiles also count people exiting as -1... not as 0 (the -1 is for current count, the 0 is for total count)

That sounds right (you also have more detailed information about the counts from what I have seen). For the record, do you have the averages for the other three counts?

In th eyes of the bean counters that is not really the case. It is like I said before- having low attendance for the day only to have the "big wave" of people hold off until the latter half of the day completely trashes the balance sheets, as there are less people in the park spending money.

In California there are similar problems with DCA* and Universal Studios Hollywood (come to think of it, there are several parks with daily attendance numbers that seem half way decent until the rug is looked under and the dead rat is exposed) where the annual passholder crowd really drives up the attendance numbers for those parks and make them seem "healthy," but in reality the actual revenues in the park are very, very low because the AP holders generally aren't big spenders unless a pin is involved.

* Then again, even with the APs jacking up the turnstile counts attendance there is still abysmal.
